Northwestern Soccer GAC Tournament Preview

Alva, Okla – The Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger's Soccer Team has secured the number three seed in the Great American Conference tournament for the first time since joining Division II. The Rangers will once again face off against the number two seed the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist on November 11th, in Weatherford Oklahoma with kickoff set for 11AM.
 
The winner of the first-round game will move on to the championship game on Saturday, November 13th, against the winner of Ouachita Baptist or Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

This is the first time the Rangers have secured a Conference berth since joining the Division II era and the Great American Conference. The Rangers are currently sitting on a winning season of 11-5-2 (6-4-2 in GAC) with the 11 wins the most since 2004 season.

The Rangers have fallen to the Bison twice this season with a close 2-1 loss on October 14th and last Saturday on November 6th. The Bison finished their regular season with an 11-5-1 (10-2 in GAC) record.

Freshman Tiara Campbell leads the Rangers and the GAC conference with a total of 19 goals and one assist. Resulting in an impressive 39 points. Campbell also leads the Rangers with a total of 51 shots with 34 being on target. Freshman Isabella Mcmillan and senior Abby Nunez both follow behind with four goals and four assists each.

Senior goalkeeper Reagan Allen has played in and started 17 games for the Rangers. Allen has a saving average of .826 and 114 saves this season which is good for second in the conference. Allen has five shutouts on the seaon. 

Northwestern will look to earn a win over the Bison Thursday morning as Oklahoma Baptist has found some success winning the tournament as recent as 2018.

Oklahoma Baptist leading goal scorer Hannah White has concluded seven goals this season with one assist. Up there with her is Tori Kitchel with six goals and three assists.

The Bison are led in goal by Ireland Jeffrey who has made 12 starts on the season with a 9-2-1 record with 45 saves on the season and a .833 save percentage for the Bison. She has six shutouts on the year.

Each team received recognition at the banquet Friday night as eight members for the Bison made either the All-GAC first, second or honorable mention team. There were seven players for the Rangers that made one of those three teams and head coach Alex Piekarski received GAC coach of the year.
