Pierce 11 Fourth Quarter Points Sinks Eagles Tuesday Night

Alva, Okla - The Lady Rangers hosted the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday evening. This was their third home game in a row, the Rangers pulled out on top with another win for their third straight. Northwestern opened the game strong with a quick run which led to a solid opening quarter to take a 22-12 lead that helped lead to a 76-62 victory over the Eagles Tuesday night. 

The Lady Rangers improve to 3-2 on the season with their third straight vicotry, as the Eagles fall to 0-2. This was the Rangers thrid striaght double digit win following the 14 point victory.

Andi Pierce had 24 points, seven rebounds and one assist on the evening to lead the Rangers. Bailey Brown had 21 points, six rebounds and one assist, Carly Craig finished the evening with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists, and Kinsey Neiderer with 12 points, six rebounds and one assist.

First Quarter: 

Pierce opened up the quarter by stealing the ball from an Eagle player leading the fastbreak down the court before finding the hands of Neiderer who drilled a three pointer to open the Tuesday night scoring. Shortly after the three-point shot, Brooklin Bain from Oklahoma Christian made a jump shot to get on the board. Following the Eagles basket the Rangers would go on a quick 5-0 run to take an 8-2 early lead. Brown would extend the Ranger lead by making a layup, bringing the score up to 16-7. Brown and Pierce would close out the first quarter with layups to push the Rangers to their first double digit lead of the game, bringing the score to 22-12 to end the opening quarter.

Second Quarter:

Early in the quarter, Eagles Kate Bradley scored an opening three-point shot assisted by Macy Smith following another Eagle three point to quickly cut the Ranger lead to four at 22-18. Craig would help end the Eagle run as she would make back-to-back three-point shots to extend the Rangers lead back to double digits at 31-21. With two minutes left in the quarter, Pierce shoots and makes a three-point shot assisted by Brown. The Pierce three pointer would push the Rangers lead to their largest of the opening half at 13 a 39-26 lead. At the end of the second quarter, Rangers lead the Eagles 39-30 going into the break.

Third Quarter: 

Northwestern started the half strong as Brown would make a layup on the fast break following a rebound off an Eagle miss. Northwestern would open the quarter on an 8-2 lead to build a double digit lead. Northwestern led 47-34 halfway through the third quarter as Pierce jump shot would continue the Northwestern run building on their lead. Neiderer drew a foul and completed both shots earning two more points for the Rangers. The Rangers outscored the Eagles 17-14, giving them a 56-44 advantage going into the fourth quarter.

Fourth Quarter:

The Eagles opened the fourth quarter on a 7-1 lead to cut the Northwestern lead to five but a Neiderer three pointer would put an end to the run and open the Rangers counter run. Craig would bury a jump shot on the fast break to push the Northwestern lead back to double digits. With five minutes left in the quarter, Carlie Badley who was fouled and would make both foul shots to and another Eagles comeback attempt. Pierce would use 11 fourth quarter points to help the Rangers closed out the victory in the fourth quarter. A Neiderer fast break layup would give the Rangers a 76-62 win over the Eagles.

The Lady Rangers are back at home on Dec. 2nd as they begin conference play and open up with the Bisons of Oklahoma Baptist University. The women's team play at 5:30 as the men's team follows at 7:30 that Thursday evening.
