Lady Rangers Three Game Win Streak Snapped in Loss to Oklahoma Baptist

 

Alva, Okla - The Lady Rangers opened up conference play against the Oklahoma Baptist Bison on Thursday evening. Northwestern opened the game strong offensively by going up seven points in the first quarter, but there was not enough momentum to carry them throughout the game. The Lady Rangers would fall to the Bison 63-54. 

With the loss the Lady Rangers dropped to 3-3 on the season while the Bison improved to 4-2 on the season.
Bailey Brown lead the Rangers with 25 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. Kinsey Neiderer finished with 11 points, and five rebounds and Scout Frame, in her first game back this season, had 10 points and five rebounds. Andi Pierce had four points and seven rebounds in in 33 minutes of play. 

First Quarter : 

Brown opened the quarter with an offensive rebound and a putback to get the Lady Rangers on the board first. Shortly after, Josena Frame would get her hands on the ball and find Brown under the basket for another layup. The Lady Rangers would go on an 11-0 taking a 13-4 lead before the end of the quarter. Brown led Northwestern with nine first quarter points and the Lady Rangers lead Oklahoma Baptist 13-10 heading into quarter number two. 

Second Quarter : 

Two-minutes into the quarter Bison forward Andreja Peciuraite converted a layup on the assist by Large putting the Bison in front of the Lady Rangers 14-13. Neiderer tied up the game in the fourth minute of play by hitting a three-pointer on the pass by Jill Ingram. The Lady Rangers would regain the lead on a layup by Brown assisted by Craig. The Bison would enter the halftime intermission leading 23-20.

Third Quarter : 

The Bison started the third quarter on a 5-0 run before the Lady Rangers first shot of the second half. S. Frame scored two of her 10 points on a layup in the paint off the assist from Brown. Right before the end of the quarter, Neiderer knocked down another trey late in the third quarter to pull the Lady Rangers to within seven. The Lady Rangers headed into the fourth quarter trailing 46-38. 

Fourth Quarter : 

The Bison came out strong in the fourth quarter scoring six straight from beyond the arc pushing their lead to 14 points. Brown would get the Lady Rangers on the board in the fourth quarter with a layup cutting the lead back down to 12. Shortly after, Brown found an open Neiderer who drilled the jumper from elbow. Brown carried the Lady Rangers scoring 12 points in the quarter. The Bison would go to win by a final score of 63-54. 

Northwestern will be on the road this weekend as they travel to Ada, OK to face off against the East Central Tigers. Women play at 1 PM and men play at 3 PM.
