Rangers Win Last Home Game Against Southern Nazarene


Alva, Okla – The Rangers Soccer team hosted the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene for the last home game of the season. The team finished the game with a 3-0 win over the Storm. The Rangers scored in the opening half and took advantage of the early lead before winning 3-0 to close out the game.

The Rangers improved to 11-4-2 (6-3-2 in GAC) as the Crimson Storm drop 1-16-0 (0-11 in GAC). The Rangers outshot the Storm 35-6 with having 15 shots on target.

A variety of Ranger players had a glance with a shot on target. Tiara Campbell led the Rangers with eight shots, four being on target and one on goal. Abby Nunez had five shots, two being on target with one goal. Cynthia Armas got her first collegiate goal on top of having three shots. Jazlyn Norwood with four shots throughout the game, two being on target. Isabella Mcmillan with three shots and one assist. Beth Wortham had three shots throughout the game with one shot being on target.

The Rangers scored their first goal in the in the 20th minute of play from Nunez. Armas received the ball outside the box and took a shot but was blocked by the Storm's goalkeeper but was still in play. Armas got the ball back with another shot that hit off the goal post and landed at the feet of Nunez. Nunez shot the ball into the lower bottom right of the net.

The Rangers were leading going into halftime, the Rangers led 1-0 with 14 shots.

Second half started off quickly with Red-and-Black scoring the second goal in the 60th minute of play by Armas. Abby McLaughlin kicked the ball in the air which Armas brought down with control. Armas beat three Southern Nazarene players before striking the ball with pace and hitting the top center part of the goal.

In the 61st minute Campbell scores her 18th goal of the season assisted by Mcmillan. Mcmillan with the ball at her feet found Campbell on the top right corner of the Storms 18-yard box. As Campbell picked her head up, as she blasts the ball into the top left corner of the net.

The Crimson Storm only had six shots throughout the game, with having three on target.

It was a slow-paced game for goalkeeper Reagan Allen since the Rangers defense kept the ball out of their half and in the Storms half.

Allen completed her sixth shutout of the season.

The Rangers will be on the road as they travel to Shawnee, OK to play against the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, Nov. 6th at 6 PM to close out the regular season before opening conference playoffs Thursday the 11th.
