Rangers Travel to Ada for Road Conference Game Against the Tigers

Alva, Okla.- Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers Men's Basketball travel to Ada looking for their first conference victory of the season and even the record at 1-1. The Rangers game will tip off at 3:00 PM.

The Rangers come into the Thursday matchup winners in four of the last five games. Northwestern has used a balanced attack offensively and defensively to find early-season success. The offense averages 83.7 points per game for third in the conference while only allowing 65 points per game, good for 4th in the conference.

The offense has been a balanced spread-out attack as Larry White led six players averaging double figures. White scorers 12.5 per game, followed by Jason Douglas-Stanley with 10.5 and Malik Parson at 10.2 Brian Free, Bubba Furlong, and Anthony Jones all scored 10.0 per game. Furlong has led the team in assists with 15 on the season to lead the Rangers, followed by Malik Parsons with 13. Parsons has led the Ranger in 3-point shooting at 62.5 percent along with Free at 43 percent on 13-30 shooting.

Northwestern's defense has also come up big in the early, going averaging 8.5 steals per game, with White having eight followed by Furlong and Douglas-Stanley with seven. The Rangers also have 4.3 blocks per game, suitable for 26 blocks on the season, with Furlong having 12 of those blocks. Northwestern has been able to control the glass early this season, averaging ten more rebounds than their opponent. Furlong, Larry White, and Matej Drgon have led the rebounding this season. Furlong 8.0 per game, followed by White with 7.2 and Drgon 5.3.

Looking at the Tigers:

East Central comes into the Saturday matchup winners in two of their last three games, including a conference-opening win by one point 51-50 over Southern Nazarene. Overall, East Central is 2-4 on the season with a conference record of 1-0.

Josh Apple has led the Tigers in scoring with 14.6 as one of three double-figure scorers. Jalen Crutchfield and Shemar Smith are the other two Tigers scoring over ten points per game. Romello Wilbert has taken charge of their offense with 25 assists per game during the season so far to date, followed by Josh Apple with 15. Crutchfield has made the most three-pointers on the season with 14 in 29 attempts.

The Tigers' defense allows just over 68 points per game. Brennen Burns and Wilbert each lead the team with 14 steals on the season with 48 total through six games. Wilbert leads the team with eight rebounds per game, along with Josh Apple and Smith with five each.

Northwestern trails the series history 5-8 since joining division II and will look to snap a three-game losing streak to the Tigers following three straight wins and a series sweep for East Central last season.
