Northwestern Volleyball Finishes on Top of SNU

ALVA, Okla. – The Rangers held off the Crimson Storm of SNU in four sets (25-22, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21) on Thursday night inside of Percefull Fieldhouse. 
 
Northwestern Volleyball (RV) improves to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Great American Conference. The Red-and-Black currently sits #1 in the nation for blocks per game as a team.  
 
"I'm very proud of our team's grit to never give up." Assistant Volleyball Coach Kortney Cunningham said.
 
"It was awesome to see our bench come into the game and step up when we needed them." 
 
"That game was truly a battle on both sides of the net." Cunningham explained.
 
Kaydee Honeycutt finished with a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs. She posted a .244 attack percentage after defeating the Crimson Storm with a 15-5-41 clip. 
 
Kate Deterding tallied 11 kills, two blocks, eight digs and a service ace. She also finished with a .244 attack percentage but with a 11-1-41 clip. 
 
Courtney Russell snagged seven kills, one dig and three blocks. 
 
Ravyn Burns blocked SNU twice and finished with seven kills along with a dig. Burns has buried her name into the national individual standings, she currently sits #1 in blocks per game. 
 
Carmae Jones finished with three kills, a solo block and four block assists Jones is ranked #3 in the nation in blocks per game as an individual. 
 
Avery Osburg chipped in six digs, one ace and 33 assists. 
 
Sydnee Miller showed out defensively, earning herself 15 digs. She tallied one service ace and two assists as well. 
 
Madison Dehlinger finished with four kills and a dig.

SET 1: (25-22, NW)
SNU snagged the first three points of the set until kills from Russell, Deterding and Jones put the Rangers on the board. Northwestern defeated the Crimson Storm in the first set with four players having three kills apiece: Jones-who earned all three of her kills of the match in the first set, Honeycutt, Deterding and Russell. Dehlinger finished with two kills and Miller chipped in five digs while Osburg assisted her teammates nine times. 
Grace Miracle for SNU finished with 5 kills and so did Whitney Bowie.

SET 2: (25-17, SNU)
The Crimson Storm took the second set by eight points and held the Rangers to a .086 attack percentage, while they finished with a .185. Sunny Batschelett led SNU with four kills, followed by Meagan Ellis who had three. Honeycutt led the Red-and-Black with four kills and five digs after hitting .250. SNU finished the second set on top of the Rangers defensively with 25 digs. Northwestern tallied 18 digs.
 
SET 3: (25-20, NW)
The Rangers were victorious in the third set after hitting .086 for the second time in a row. SNU scored the first four points of the set until Meagan Ellis gave up a service error to put Northwestern on the board. Honeycutt, Burns and Russell led NWOSU with three kills apiece while Miller led defensively with five digs. Jones and Deterding finished the set with two blocks apiece. Osburg assisted the Rangers six times and Abby Davis tallied three assists. The Red-and-Black posted a 11-8-35 clip, while SNU finished 10-5-30.
 
SET 4: (25-21, NW)
Northwestern Volleyball secured a 3-1 victory over the Crimson Storm after trading points back-and-forth the entire set. Honeycutt led the Rangers in the final set with five kills, followed by Deterding who added four along with three digs. Osburg finished with 12 assists and a 12-for-23 setting clip (52.2%). Jones tallied three blocks while Russell earned two. Batschelett led the Crimson Storm with seven kills followed by Ellis and Bowie who each had three. Northwestern served extremely well in set four, they posted a .958 serve percentage and only had one error while SNU finished .773 with five errors.

Miracle dug the ball 12 times and earned nine kills. 
 
Ellis had seven kills, 18 digs and two blocks.
