Brown Finishes With 27 Points in Victory Over Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. – After scoring 30 points in the third quarter, the Lady Rangers were victorious in Shawnee over the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist, 74-72. 
 
"Coming out after half down 14, I thought the girls showed a lot of maturity to chip away at their lead." Head Coach Tasha Diesselhorst explains. 
 
"We played with much more energy and Bailey Brown was the difference-maker in the second half."  
 
"This is a great come-from-behind win that we can hopefully use to build on into next week's games," Diesselhorst adds. 
 
The Red-and-Black improve to 6-10 overall and 4-10 in the Great American Conference. 
 
Northwestern outscored the Bison with four players that finished in double figures. 
 
Bailey Brown led NWOSU with 27 points off 7-of-15 FG shooting, 12-13 FT and 1-3 from 3PT. She also had seven rebounds, four assists and six steals. Brown has now moved to the fourth spot for all-time rebounds in school history and sixth in all-time scoring. She now has 1,296 career points and 744 total rebounds. 
 
Scout Frame finished with 13 points, four rebounds, five assists and one steal. She shot 5-for-11, 1-for-3 from three-point range and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. 
 
Josena Frame posted 10 points, shooting 3-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from free-throw range. She also had four rebounds, three assists and one steal. 
 
Jarah Whitfield tallied six points, one block and two rebounds. Whitfield finished shooting 2-for-3 from deep. 
 
Mya Johnson chipped in six points, two rebounds and two assists.

FIRST QUARTER
J. Frame hit a deep three-pointer to open the contest, followed by inside scores from S. Frame and Brown. Jaylin Stapleton of OBU put the Bison on the scoreboard after she rolled in a layup and a free throw. Johnson scored inside, and S. Frame drained an outside score, but the Bison were able to stay ahead of the Lady Rangers 22-13 to end the first 10 minutes of play. (22-13, OBU)

SECOND QUARTER
The Frame sister duo was able to score back-to-back from inside to start the second period. Brown and S. Frame both put in pairs of perfect free throws, followed by Shephard's three-point play from outside the arc. The Bison held the Red-and-Black scoreless for the last three minutes of the quarter and went into halftime ahead of Northwestern 40-26. (40-26, OBU)
 
THIRD QUARTER
The Lady Rangers scored an impressive 30 points in the third quarter to overcome the 14 point lead the Bison accumulated going into halftime. Brown opened the second half with a perfect pair of free throws followed by a made layup and another free throw. Whitfield drilled a three-pointer at the eight-minute mark and Brown rattled in four more points. S. Frame, Johnson and Shephard scored for the Lady Rangers to bring the scores to 47-44, with Oklahoma Baptist on top and only four minutes left to play in the quarter. J. Frame and Brown both drilled perfect pairs of free throws followed by another three-pointer from Whitfield and layups from Shephard and Brown to cut the Bison lead to just one point before the final 10 minutes of play. FOURTH QUARTER
Northwestern opens the final quarter with three-pointers from Shephard and J. Frame. Brown fires in three points plus two inside scores, followed by two free throws from Kes Reeves. The Lady Rangers sealed the victory over the Bison after Brown put in two free throws to finish the game 74-72 in Shawnee. (74-72, NW)

Kalifa Ford led the Bison with 25 points, six rebounds and four steals. She finished shooting 11-for-17 from the field and 3-for-6 from the free-throw line. 
 
Stapleton finished with 13 points, seven assists and four rebounds. 
 
Andreja Peciuraite posted 10 points and six rebounds. She finished shooting 4-for-6 from the free-throw line and 3-for-4 from the field.
