Lady Rangers Drop Home Thriller to SWOSU

ALVA, Okla. – The Lady Rangers fell short 82-88, against the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State on Monday night. 
 
Northwestern finished with two players in double-digit scoring figures, Scout Frame and Bailey Brown. Frame posted 31 points, and Brown finished with 30 to record the Lady Rangers' first game in the Division II era with two players scoring 30 points. 
 
S. Frame recorded a double-double with 31 points and 12 rebounds. She finished shooting 13-for-22 from the field including 5-for-6 from the three-point line. 
 
Brown also recorded a double-double, finishing with 30 points and 14 rebounds off of 11-for-19 FG shooting and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line. She assisted her teammates six times and stole the ball from SWOSU once.
 
Lizzie Shephard posted seven points, two rebounds, one steal and seven assists. 
 
Mya Johnson finished with eight rebounds, one assist and six points. 
 
Northwestern moves to 6-11 overall and 4-11 in the Great American Conference.

FIRST QUARTER
SWOSU's Karly Gore immediately turned the ball over into Jarah Whitfield's arms to open the game. Brown scored first from inside for Northwestern and K. Gore drilled a three-pointer to open scoring for the Bulldogs. S. Frame drained back-to-back three pointers at the six-minute mark followed by scores from Johnson and Brown from inside. With less than a minute left in the first quarter S. Frame put the Lady Rangers on top of the Bulldogs 20-16 after she rattled in back-to-back jumpers. (20-16, NW)
 
SECOND QUARTER
Brown hit the first six points for Northwestern to open the second quarter. S. Frame swished a deep score and rattled in a pull-up-jumper to create a seven-point lead over Southwestern. The Lady Rangers closed the first half with a seven-point lead over the Bulldogs after Josena Frame, Shephard, S. Frame and Brown rattled in scores to stay ahead 42-35 (42-35, NW) 

THIRD QUARTER
S. Frame drilled a three-pointer to open the second half, followed by three straight inside scores from Brown. Shephard rattled in a deep score with three-minutes left in the third period to stay ahead by five but Maddie Sperle of Southwestern drained back-to-back three pointers to chip away at the Northwestern lead. S. Frame, Brown and Johnson all hit shots from inside during the final minute to stay ahead of the Bulldogs by six to finish the period. (62-56, NW)
 
FOURTH QUARTER
Maddy North fired first for the Bulldogs but Kiana Walker answered back with deep score from outside the arc. Brown rolled in a layup to go up eight points on Southwestern, but scores from Lauren Ramey, Macy Gore, K. Gore and Makyra Tramble helped SWOSU gain a two-point fourth quarter lead with just four minutes left to play. Brown, S. Frame and J. Frame all scored in the final minutes but unfortunately Southwestern was able to hold onto a six-point lead to defeat the Lady Rangers in Alva. (88-82, SWOSU)

Southwestern Oklahoma State improves to 14-2 overall and 14-2 in GAC play. 
 
M. Gore led the Bulldogs with 19 points, four assists, two steals and three rebounds. She finished shooting 6-for-12 from the field including 3-for-6 from the three-point line. She also went 4-for-5 from the foul line. 
 
K. Gore finished with three rebounds, 18 points, one steal and two assists. She shot 3-for-9 from outside and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line. 
 
Ramey recorded 15 points, two rebounds, two steals, one block and two assists. She finished shooting 3-for-8 from the three-point line.
 
Tramble posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. She stole the ball from the Lady Rangers three times and blocked them once. Tramble also recorded five assists. 

NEXT UP: On Thursday, Feb. 25 the Lady Rangers will travel to Durant and face the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m.
