The Lady Rangers Fall Short to East Central at Home

ALVA, Okla. – The Lady Rangers came up short 64-76 to the Tigers of East Central on Saturday afternoon inside Percefull Fieldhouse. 
 
The Red-and-Black move to 6-13 overall and 4-13 in the Great American Conference.
 
Northwestern finished the contest with three players scoring double figures: Scout Frame, Bailey Brown and Mya Johnson
 
S. Frame went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, 6-of-12 from the field and 1-for-4 from the three-point line. She scored 20 points, snagged four rebounds, assisted her team one time and stole the ball from the Tigers once. 
 
Brown posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She also tallied a block and three assists. Brown finished shooting 7-for-15, 1-for-3 from deep and 4-for-7 from free throw range. 
 
Johnson scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds and shot 4-for-7 from the field and 2-for-6 from the free-throw line. 
 
Lizzie Shephard finished with seven points, five rebounds, one steal and three assists. 
 
Kiana Walker tallied three points, one steal, two assists and two rebounds. 
 
Josena Frame recorded two steals, two points, three assists and seven rebounds.

FIRST QUARTER
Brown fired first for Northwestern after she drilled a free throw and a three pointer to immediately jump ahead of the Tigers by four. Shephard rattled in a pull-up-jumper to keep the Lady Rangers up by six, but Mackenzie Crusoe got fouled and made both of her free throws to put the Tigers on the board, 2-6. Brown scored again for Northwestern and Crusoe answered back with the Tigers first deep score. Alexis Lyons drilled another three pointer for the Tigers, followed by Johnson's first inside score of the afternoon. Two free throws from Kendall Schulte allowed ECU to jump ahead by two at the four-minute mark, but a deep score from Walker put Northwestern ahead of the Tigers by one. S. Frame and Brown both scored from inside to keep the Red-and-Black ahead of East Central 21-19 to close the first 10 minute of play. (21-19, NW)
 
SECOND QUARTER
Shephard, S. Frame and Brown scored from inside and the free-throw line to open the second quarter. S. Frame drilled a three pointer to keep Northwestern ahead by nine with three minutes to go in the first half. As the clock winded down, Schulte fired in a three-pointer followed by two free throws from Lyons, and layups from Madison Rehl, Ella Schultz and Crusoe to jump ahead of the Lady Rangers by two before going into the locker room. THIRD QUARTER
Rehl drained a three pointer to open the second half and put the Tigers up by five over Northwestern. S. Frame, Jarah Whitfield, Brown and Johnson all added quick scores from inside followed by a pair of free throws from J. Frame. S. Frame, Brown, Kes Reeves and Johnson rattled in free throws but East Central was able to stay ahead by five points to close the third quarter. (56-51, ECU) 
 
FOURTH QUARTER
S. Frame opened the final 10 minutes of play with a pair of three throws, followed by East Central's Schulte answered back with a pair of free throws. Johnson rolled in a layup and hit a free throw, but the Tigers were able to take 13-point lead until Shephard splashed a three pointer and S. Frame drilled a pull-up-jumper. S. Frame scored the final points for Northwestern, but the Tigers were able to seal the victory after Gabby Cummins made two free throws to keep ECU ahead 76-64. (76-64, ECU)

The Tigers improve to 9-8 overall and 9-8 in GAC play. 
 
Crusoe scored 22 points and finished 6-for-7 from the three-point line. She tallied two steals, eight rebounds, one block and one assist.
 
Schulte finished shooting 6-for-15 from the field, 3-for-7 from deep and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. She scored 20 points, grabbed three rebounds, stole the ball from NWOSU three times and tallied seven assists. 
 
Rehl recorded one block, three assists and 10 points. She finished shooting two-for-two from free throw range and 2-for-8 from outside the arc. 
 
Schultz scored eight points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked one Lady Ranger. 
 
Lyons finished with seven points as well as seven rebounds.
