Rangers Drop Two Games to Henderson State on Friday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Rangers dropped game one of Friday's doubleheader with a 4-2 loss to Henderson State and fell in the finale 8-0 in five innings at Dee White Field.
 
The losses dip the Rangers to 7-11 overall on the season and 2-10 in Great American Conference play.
 
Regan Burleson and Jayden Solberg each connected on a pair of hits. Hannah Howell, Lindsey McElroy and Allison Zanca added one.
 
Solberg accounted for an RBI.
 
Howell would start game one throwing 6.0 innings, taking the loss after allowing four runs, two earned on six hits with two strikeouts; with the loss, she falls to 5-4 on the season.
 
The Red-and-Black would score in the top of the first, Howell would lead off the game with a single, then McElroy was hit by the pitch, Kalie Johnson followed, reaching on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Howell would score on a passed ball, then Solberg would single home McElroy, giving Northwestern a 2-0 lead.
 
HSU would answer in the bottom half of the second inning, knotting the score at 2-2. 
 
The Reddies would take the lead in the third inning with an RBI single and then an error, giving Henderson State a 4-2 lead.
 
The Rangers would get a runner on in the fourth, fifth and sixth but could not get a rally together. Losing game one to Henderson State 4-2.
 
In-game two, Howell collected two hits, while Johnson, McElroy, Solberg, and Zanca added a hit.
 
The Red-and-Black would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Solberg would lead off with a single to center, then come around to score on a Howell singled through the right side.
 
The Reddies would strike back, getting two runs in the bottom of the second.
 
HSU would add insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 4-1.
 
Hannah Scoggin would throw a complete game in the loss; she allowed four runs, three earned with three strikeouts. 
 
Game three will be tomorrow, with the first pitch set for noon.
