Northwestern Volleyball Earns a Senior Day Sweep Over SOSU

ALVA, Okla. – The Rangers snagged a Senior Day sweep over Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon inside of Percefull Fieldhouse.  
 
Northwestern Volleyball pulled out three straight set wins (25-16, 25-20, 25-17) over the Savage Storm. 
 
"This has been one of the most memorable years of my volleyball career for many reasons, but I wouldn't change a thing." Senior outside hitter Kate Deterding explained. 
 
"I'm surrounded by the best, most uplifting teammates and coaches."
 
"I'm really proud of how we took care of business tonight and I can't wait to keep the momentum going into our game next Wednesday." Deterding added. 
 
"I could not have asked for a better Senior Day." Senior libero Sydnee Miller said. 
 
"My teammates worked hard to make this game so much fun, this will be a memory I take with me forever." Miller added. 
 
"Today was such a special win." Senior setter Avery Osburg exclaimed.
 
"Before we got on the court, we decided as a team to not just play to win, but to play and have fun to enjoy our last home game together."
 
"I'm so thankful to play under such amazing coaches and teammates, my time here has been an experience of a lifetime." Osburg answered. 
 
Congratulations to Kate Deterding, Sydnee Miller and Avery Osburg on their outstanding volleyball careers! 
 
Deterding led Northwestern with nine kills, 13 digs, 11.5 points, two blocks and a service ace. She finished hitting .129 off of a 9-5-31 clip. 
 
Madison Dehlinger recorded six kills and two blocks. Dehlinger scored a 6-1-16 hitting clip and a .312 attack percentage. 
 
Tarra Parks earned five kills, two blocks, six digs and one service ace. 
 
Ravyn Burns finished with eight blocks, four kills and one dig. 
 
Kaydee Honeycutt posted five kills, one service ace, four blocks and three digs. 
 
Osburg assisted the Rangers 27 times, dug the ball seven, blocked SOSU twice and earned one kill. 

Maggie Peterson chipped in 10 digs. 
 
Miller was recognized before the match for reaching a huge milestone in her career. After the contest against Southern Nazarene last Wednesday, she recorded over 1,000 career digs. Miller finished today's match with seven digs and two assists.

SET 1: (25-16, NW)
The Rangers were hot in the first set after defeating the Savage Storm 25-16. Northwestern was able to earn their best attack percentage of the day (.205) after posting an 11-2-44 clip. Deterding led the Red-and-Black with four kills, five digs, a block and a service ace. Deterding also hit .273 off of a 4-1-11 clip. Burns, Honeycutt and Parks all chipped in two kills apiece while Dehlinger scored one dig and an ace. The Rangers finished the set with four blocks, while SOSU only blocked the ball once. Burns snagged three of the Red-and-Black's four blocks. Southeastern finished the set hitting .051 off of a 10-8-39 clip. 
 
SET 2: (25-20, NW)
Southeastern gave up 13 errors in the second set and hit -.022. The Rangers were able to take advantage of the Savage Storm's mistakes and seal back-to-back set wins after defeating SOSU 25-20 in the set. Southeastern finished hitting 12-13-45 with 17 digs, four blocks and eight assists. Deterding led the Rangers again in scoring after posting three kills, three digs and one block. Osburg assisted the Red-and-Black seven times and scored a kill, three digs and one block. Peterson tallied four digs and Burns blocked Southeastern three times. Northwestern was able to collect 10 blocks in the set while hitting 8-5-37. 
 
SET 3: (25-17, NW)
The Red-and-Black sealed their Saturday afternoon Senior Day sweep by defeating SOSU 25-17 in the final set. Northwestern was able to land a 7-0 scoring run to begin the third set and hold the Savage Storm to zero tie scores or lead changes. The Rangers finished hitting .129 off of a 11-7-31 clip while Southeastern scored a 7-9-35 clip and a -.057 attack percentage. Parks and Dehlinger each contributed three kills for NWOSU while Deterding finished with five digs and two kills. Honeycutt also posted two kills along with two blocks. Osburg assisted the Red-and-Black 11 times, her best of the contest.

Grace Shehadeh led defensively with 19 digs. 
 
Ruthie Forson assisted the Savage Storm 19 times and recorded three kills.

The Rangers will travel to Weatherford for their final match of the regular season and face the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State on Wednesday, March 31 at 7 p.m.
