Northwestern Drops Both Games Saturday to Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – The Rangers dropped both halves of the doubleheader on Saturday at Harding. Falling in five innings in each game, dropped game one 10-2 and the second game 8-0 at Harding University Softball Field.
 
The loss moves Northwestern to 8-24 overall and 3-23 in the Great American Conference.
 
Six Rangers would collect a hit in game one, Allison Zanca would lead the way with two hits, Kelsey Bushey, Mesa Gann, Kalie Johnson, Morgan La Neve and Jayden Solberg collected one.
 
Bushey and Zanca each drove in a run.
 
Hannah Howell would start lasting 3.2 innings, allowing 10 runs on eight hits while striking out four. Allie Hufford would come in and record an out to get out of the fourth inning.
 
The Bisons would score two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead.
 
In the top of the second, Zanca would lead off with a double to left-center, Gann would follow with a single to center, then Bushey would single to center driving in Zanca, trimming the lead to 2-1.
 
Harding would score three runs in the second inning to take a 5-1 lead.
 
The Red-and-Black would battle back with two outs in the third inning. Johnson would single, then advance to second on an error by the centerfielder. Johnson would come in to score on a Zanca single through the left side. Northwestern would trail 5-2 heading into the bottom of the
third. 
 
HU would score a run in the bottom of the third to get back the run they surrendered in the top of the inning leading 6-2. 
 
In the fourth inning, the Bisons would score four runs and hold the Rangers in the top of the fifth to take game one with a score of 10-2.
 
In-game two, The Red-and-Black would be held to one hit by Jessica Bridges of Harding, only getting one running to second base in the game.
 
La Neve would single in the second. The only other Rangers to reach base would be by walks; Howell would reach on base on balls in the third and Gann would get walked in the fourth.
 
HU would score a run in the bottom of the second to get out to a 1-0 lead early before exploding for seven runs in the fifth and walking off via run-rule 8-0. 
 
Hannah Scoggin would start, throwing 2.0 innings, allowing a run on two hits. Zanca would come in and pitch 2.1 innings surrendering five runs on five hits. Hufford would throw 0.1 innings allowing two runs on two hits.  
 
Northwestern will conclude the series with Harding tomorrow, with the first pitch scheduled for noon.
