Rangers fall Sunday to Harding 5-1

SEARCY, Ark. – Northwestern dropped the series finale to Harding on Sunday, falling 5-1 at the Harding University Softball Field.
 
The loss moves the Rangers to 8-25 overall and 3-24 in the Great American Conference.
 
Northwestern would have five hits in the game, one each by Kelsey Bushey, Kalie Johnson, Lindsey McElroy, Brianna Wisby and Allison Zanca.
 
Bushey would account for the RBI.
 
Hannah Scoggin got the start, tossing her eighth complete game of the season in the loss, allowing five runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts.
 
The Bisons would score a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-0 lead. 
 
Johnson would get walked to lead off the sixth inning. She would advance to second on a groundout and move to third on a wild pitch. Bushey would pinch hit and single through the left side, cutting into the Harding lead and making the score 3-1. 
 
HU would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 5-1 lead, the final score.
 
The Red-and-Black will host Arkansas Tech next weekend in a three-game series. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 5 pm start on April 23.
