Rangers Drop the Series Opener to SAU

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Rangers drop game one of the series to Southern Arkansas on Friday, 8-0 in Magnolia, at Dawson Field.
 
NWOSU falls to 8-29 overall and 3-28 in the Great American Conference.
 
Northwestern would collect one hit by Allison Zanca in the top of the first inning.
 
Hannah Scoggin would start throwing 2.1 innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned on six hits. Zanca would come in to pitch the final 1.2 innings, striking out two and not allowing a hit or a run. 
 
Southern Arkansas would take a 2-0 lead after an inning.
 
The Muleriders would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the second, taking a 4-0 lead. 
 
In the third inning, SAU would score four runs to get an 8-0 lead. 
 
Neither team would collect a hit or score a run over the final two frames. 
 
The series will conclude on Saturday with game one of the doubleheader slated to start at noon and the final game of the series to follow.
