Ranger Soccer Win Second Straight on the Road

Kearney, Neb - The Northwestern Rangers Soccer team traveled to Kearney, Nebraska to face off against the Lopers for the second game of the four game trip. The Rangers were able to capitalize on an early second half goal in which they would never lose the lead.

The lose drops the Lopers to 1-2 on the season as the Rangers improve to 2-1 on the year.

"Our first clean sheet of the season. We had a great team defending all over the field today which we transitioned into some dangerous attacking opportunities. The goal came from a great ball by Kailani Kealoha that Mia Thompson was able to finish We are looking forward to carry out momentum into Sunday" said coach Alex Piekarski.

The Rangers and Lopers went into halftime, tied at 0-0. The Rangers outshot the Lopers in the first half 4-2. Callie Haneborg led the Rangers with two shots, both being on target. Tiara Campbell and Isabella Mcmillan both had one shot which concluded the first half of the game.

The Rangers came out strong and dangerous in the second half. Mia Thompson scores her first collegiate goal, and the only goal of the match. Thompson scored the winning goal in the 59th minute by placing the ball high and centered in the back of the net, the goal was assisted by senior midfielder Kailani Kealoha.

Campbell tallied three shots on the game, one being on target. Alyssa Nunez had one shot in the game.

Allen moves to having her first shut out of the 2021 season. Allen was faced with five shots, three of those shots being on target.

Rangers move past the Lopers with a 1-0 victory.

The Rangers are still on the road for match three of four on the road swing as they travel to Wayne, Nebraska to face off against Wayne State College on Sunday, September 12th at 12 PM.
