Alva, Oklahoma- The Rangers hosted their first game of the season today with a home match at Rangers Soccer field against the Mustangs of Midwestern State University. The Rangers would fall 3-0 in their opener after the Mustangs would take advantage of two first-half goals.

The Rangers drop to 0-1 on the season, with Midwestern State moving to 1-0 on the year. 

Reagan Allen, the Rangers goalkeeper, would save five shots in the game for the Rangers. The Red-and-Black would finish the game with ten shots on the day, including five on goal compared to 21 shots with nine being on goal for the Mustangs.

The Rangers' defense came out of the gate fast keeping the game knotted at zero with a save of from Allen followed by a blocked shot holding the game tied. 

Both teams came out strong, holding down their side of the half until the Mustangs took the lead with a goal from Cassidy Savoy in the 31st minute of the game, putting Midwestern on the board first. 

Savoy received her second goal just minutes later by heading the ball into the back of the net at the 35-minute mark of the half. 

The Rangers rang up eight shots throughout the first half, with five shots on target. Callie Haneborg led the Rangers with four shots, two on target. Reilly Marks and Gisselle Holguin both had two shots on target, and Clare Merrigan had one shot. Allen finished the half with two saves for the Rangers. 

At the start of the second half, the Rangers and Mustangs battled out a defensive half holding the score 2-0 until the 81st minute of the game after giving up a penalty kick, as the shot brought the ball into the back of the net by Lexi Beck bringing the score to 3-0.  

Beck's goal would be the final one of the day, giving Midwestern a 3-0 victory over the Rangers. 

The Rangers will be back in action as they travel to Newman University on Sunday, Sept. 5th at 2 PM.
