Rangers Sweep Two Matches Saturday Afternoon

Alva, Oklahoma - Northwestern returned to play hosting a home triangular as the Rangers swept the Savage Storm and Southwestern College. These wins extending their overall record to 16-10 on the season with a 7-5 conference record.
 

Game One: In the first match of the day Northwestern continued conference play facing off against Southeastern and sweeping them. Addison Wimmer led her team in kills with 18. Cameron Lobb accumulated 35 assists and Andrea Coady collected 15 digs. This win advanced The Rangers to a 7-5 conference record. 
 

Set One: 

The Rangers came out firing with a kill from Courtney Russell and an ace serve from Addison Wimmer to lead the Savage Storm 3-1. Abree Elsheimer contributed back to back kills. Southeastern responded with back to back kills of their own to take the lead 7-6. Wimmer fired off another kill for Northwestern and Russell contributed an ace serve to retake the lead for the Rangers 17-12. Wimmer heated up with back to back kills. A final kill from Tarra Parks allowed Northwestern to clinch the first 25-19. 
 

Set Two: 

The Savage Storm fought back in the second set with back to back kills to lead 4-2. Parks and Elsheimer responded with a kill each. The Rangers capitalized off Southeasterns errors and Wimmer contributed back to back kills to regain the lead 11-7. The two teams entered a stalemate battling point for point. A middle kill from Carmae Jones continued Northwesterns lead and kept their momentum forward at 18-16. Wimmer and Parks heated up, contributing back to back kills. Jones fired off another middle kill to take the second 25-22. 
 

Set Three:

Northwestern capitalized on the home court advantage by starting the third with a 3-0 run. Cameron Lobb contributed a service ace. The Savage Storm responded with a 4-0 run to lead 4-3. Jones fired off back to back kills from the middle. Wimmer fed off her energy with another kill to retake Northwestern's lead 9-7. Southeastern countered with a 6-0 run to jump ahead. The Rangers responded by stringing together a 3 point and 2 point run to tie the game 14-14. Parks and Russell fired off a kill each. Lobb contributed a setter dump to continue the tie 19-19. Wimmer fired off back to back kills. Libero Andrea Coady sealed Northwestern's sweep with back to back ace serves 25-20.  
 

Game Two: For the second match of the day The Rangers swept Southwestern College, an out of conference team from Kansas. Addison Wimmer fired off 22 kills for the match. Cameron Lobb led with 40 assists. Andrea Coady contributed 23 digs to the sweep. 
 

Set One: 

Addison Wimmer remained hot, firing off back to back kills to start the match. Tarra Parks contributed a kill to the 5-0 Ranger run. Wimmer fired off back to back kills once more to further Northwestern's lead 10-2. Parks contributed an ace serve and Cameron Lobb fired off a setter dump. Wimmer continued to clinch points for Northwestern pounding down numerous kills. Andrea Coady contributed a free ball kill to extend the Ranger lead to more than ten points, 18-7. The Jinx fired back with a 3-0 run to close the gap. A middle kill from Carmae Jones and an outside kill from Wimmer secured the first set 25-15. 
 

Set Two: 

Courtney Russell fired off the first ball kill for Northwestern. Wimmer fed off her momentum contributing back to back kills and pushing the Rangers forward 8-1. Northwestern continued to capitalize on Southwestern's errors stringing together small runs. Parks contributed another kill to extend the lead 16-11. Wimmer fired off back to back service aces. Jones dished out back to back middle kills. A final service ace from Parks clinched the second 25-15. 
 

Set Three: 

Southwestern fought back in the third with an early 4-0 to take the lead. A setter dump from Lobb and back to back kills from Wimmer kept Northwestern in striking distance 5-3. The Jinx fired off a service ace. Russell and Parks responded with a kill each. Wimmer started to heat up pounding down back to back kills to tie the match 11-11. Lobb contributed a service ace. Off the bench, Brooke Miller contributed back to back kills. Lobb fired off another kill to sweep Southwestern 25-19. 
 

The Rangers resume conference play on the road Tuesday the 25th as they travel to square up against Southern Nazarene University. The first serve is set to take place in Bethany at 7:00 PM.
