Alva, Okla. - The Lady Rangers fell to The Crimson Storm, 68-48. Southern Nazarene had two 9-0 runs in the first quarter to ensure their lead the entire game. The Crimson Storm had a late 7-0 run which contributed to their victory Thursday.
Northwestern falls to 15-12 overall and a 11-10 conference record. Southern Nazarene defended their second place rank with a 15-6 conference record and 20-8 overall record.
Scout Frame led the team in points with 22. Bailey Brown led in rebounds with 8 which contributed to the senior's achievement of over 1,000 career rebounds tonight becoming the first Lady Ranger in history to achieve this accomplishment. Carly Craig led in assists with five on the evening.
1st Quarter: The Lady Rangers had a slow start to the final home game of the season. The Crimson Storm struck first with a three pointer that jump-started a 9-0 run for Southern Nazarene. Senior Bailey Brown broke their run with a layup. The Crimson Storm fired back with a three pointer going up double digits for the first time of the game at 12-2. Scout Frame quickly responded for The Lady Rangers with a layup and a jumper. The Crimson Storm answered back with another 9-0 run. Brown fired off a three pointer and layup to leave Northwestern trailing 28-11 at the end of the first quarter.
2nd Quarter: Southern Nazarene stayed hot after the quarter break scoring first with a layup. Kinsey Neiderer responded with a jumper for The Lady Rangers. Neither team scored for the next three minutes, battling back and forth with the Crimson Storm in the lead. Two free throws for Southern Nazarene ended the silence. Brown responded with two points for Northwestern. S.Frame contributed a layup. The Crimson Storm answered back with a layup jump starting another run. Carly Craig sank two free throws to close the gap. S.Frame contributed a jumper. Southern Nazarene responded with a free throw to end the quarter leading 41-21. Brown led in points with 9 followed closely by S.Frame with 8. Brown and Craig led with 3 rebounds. Craig also led in assists with 3.
3rd Quarter: The Lady Rangers struck first out of the halftime break with a foul shot from S.Frame. The Crimson Storm responded with a layup. S.Frame answered back with a jumper and layup. Off the bench, senior Kes Reeves fired off a three pointer to close the gap. Southern Nazarene responded with two free throws to keep their lead. Reeves fired off another three pointer for Northwestern. The Crimson Storm responded with back to back layups. S.Frame fought back for The Lady Rangers with back to back layups and a three pointer. Northwestern continued to trail behind Southern Nazarene, 55-39 going into the final quarter.
4th Quarter: The Lady Rangers struck first in the fourth quarter once more with two layups by Brown to close the gap as the Rangers attempted their comeback. S. Frame contributed a jumper to The Lady Ranger run. Southern Nazarene responded with a layup. Brown fired off a three pointer for Northwestern as Northwestern got as close as 12 late into the fourth quarter. The Crimson Storm responded with a late 9-0 run to secure their victory over Northwestern 68-48.
The Lady Rangers look to pick up a win in their last game of the regular season against Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Tip off is set for 5:30 PM on Saturday in Durant.
