Alva, Okla. - Northwestern falls to Southeastern 85-54 in the last regular season game of the season Saturday splitting the season series with the Savage Storm. Southeastern used a late first quarter run into the second quarter to take control of the game.
The Lady Rangers drop to 15-13 overall record with an 11-11 conference record. The Savage Storm advance to a 10-12 conference record and a 12-16 overall record.
Senior Kinsey Neiderer led the team with 17 points and Brown with 12 points as the two Lady Rangers scoring double figures. Bailey Brown led in rebounds with 8 while also leading the team with 5 assists.
1st Quarter: The Lady Rangers struck first on the road with a jumper from Kinsey Neiderer. The Savage Storm quickly responded with a jump shot to quickly tie the game. Scout Frame contributed another jumper and Carly Craig sank a free throw to put Northwestern at an early lead. Southeastern took the lead with two back to back layups. Neiderer fired off a three pointer to keep The Lady Rangers in the game. Both teams battled back and forth going point for point until A three pointer followed by a layup by The Savage Storm kept them ahead going into the second quarter 20-12.
2nd Quarter: Southeastern extended their lead early in the quarter with back to back three pointers pushing the lead to double digits for the first time. Josena Frame answered back with a three pointer for The Lady Rangers. Craig contributed a jumper to close the gap on The Savage Storm. Southeastern responded with a jumper. S.Frame sank a free throw for Northwestern. The Savage Storm answered back with two free throws. The Lady Rangers fired off a jumper. Southeastern responded with a three pointer that jump started a late 7-0 run. Neiderer ended their run with a jumper to leave The Rangers trailing 39-22 at halftime. Neiderer led The Lady Rangers with 9 points. Craig and Brown led with 4 rebounds each. Brown also led in assists with 4.
3rd Quarter: Southeastern built off their lead opening the second half strong following their first half scoring a layup within the first ten seconds of play. Brown responded with two free throws. S.Frame contributed another two free throws for Northwestern. The Savage Storm responded though with a early 10-0 run to hold off the Northwestern comeback attempt. Off the bench, Carlie Badley ended their run with a jumper. Southeastern quickly answered back with a three pointer. Brown responded with a jumper for The Lady Rangers. The Savage Storm fired off another three pointer. Neiderer scored a jumper and layup back to back. Northwestern continued to trail going into the final quarter 65-34 after a big third quarter for Southeastern.
4th Quarter: The Savage Storm sank another three pointer to start the quarter. Neiderer responded with a three pointer for Northwestern. Southeastern answered back with a layup and three pointer. Brown contributed a layup for The Lady Rangers. Both teams battled back and forth as Southeastern continued to hold their double digit lead. Off the bench, Jill Ingram knocked down back to back jumpers for Northwestern. The Lady Rangers fell against The Savage Storm 85-54.
The Lady Rangers closed their regular season portion of the schedule as next week will open the Great American Conference playoffs with the opneing round set for Thursday and Friday.
