Northwestern Set to Close Regular Season in Durant

ALVA, OKLA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Basketball will play their final regular season game Saturday evening closing out the season with Southeastern Oklahoma State. Southeastern took the first meeting between the two teams 72-58 back in December. 

The Rangers (20-7 overall and 15-6 GAC) enter play Saturday on a four game win streak and winners in 10 of the last 11 games on the season. Northwestern enters the road matchup with a 7-4 record on the road. 
 

The Rangers have four double figure scorers. Leading the team is Malik Parsons at 13.1 each game followed by Larry White, Brian Free, and Bubba Furlong. Furlong leads the team shooting 56% from the field overall. As a team the Rangers rank second in the conference with a 47.9 shooting percentage as the team averages 76.5 points each game for second in the conference.

Northwestern shares the ball at a high rate ranking third in the conference with 13.7 assists as a team. Free leads the team with 82 assists on the season. Brian Free leads the team in three point shooting as he has knocked down 75 on the season for a 43.9% from behind the arc.

 

The defense is led by Larry White and Bubba Furlong as White leads the team with 53 steals on the season. The steals rank first in the GAC with a team total of 215 steals also first in the conference. Furlong has 71 blocks on the season for third in the nation and first in the conference as he averages 2.63 per game. Northwestern as a team is second in opponents field goal percentage and fifth in points at 68.2 per game. Northwestern forces 15 turnovers a game ranking second in the conference.
 

Scouting the Savage Storm: 

Southeastern enters Saturday with a 22-5 record overall and a 17-4 conference record following six straight victories including the last one over Oklahoma Baptist. Southeastern carries an 11-1 home record into the Saturday matchup. 
 

The Storm are ranked first in points per game at 85.7 on the season on 48.2% shooting both ranking first in the GAC. Their offense is led by Ante Brzovic averaging 17.7 points a game as one of five double figure scorers. Adam Dworsky, Jett Sternberger, Bobby Johnson, and Kellen Manek are the other four. Dworsky leads the team with 183 assists on the season. 
 

Their defense ranks ninth in the conference in points allowed at 73.3 a game with their opponents shooting 43.9%. Dworksy leads the team with 44 steals on the season, with Kellen Manek leading the team with 13 blocks on the year. 
 

History:  

Overall series history Southeastern leads 12-8 including winning four of the last five games over the Rangers. Northwestern took the last meeting between the two teams in Durant 75-72. 
 

The Savage Storm won the first meeting 72-58 over the Rangers in the first meeting of this season between the two programs. Northwestern was led in scoring by Parsons and White each finishing the game with 12 points.
