Rangers Baseball Travels to Rogers State Tuesday for Non-Conference Game

ALVA, OKLAHOMA- Northwestern Oklahoma State Baseball travels to Claremore to play Rogers State University in a midweek non conference game with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM. This will be the first of two meetings against Rogers as they are scheduled to travel to Alva on April 26th of this year for Northwestern's final home game of the season. 

The Rangers (6-7 overall and 3-3 GAC) enter play Tuesday on a three game win streak bouncing back to sweep Arkansas Monticello after dropping the series to Southern Arkansas. Northwestern will look for their first road win of the season after starting 0-3. 

Northwestern's offense has been led by Hayden Priest hitting .406 on the season, the only Ranger above the .400 mark. He is joined by four other players hitting above .300 in which included Brandon Holdren following a 7-13 weekend at the plate raising his average to .383, along with Brayden Koenig going 5-11 to hit.359. Yugo Hamakawa went 8-15 at the dish to raise his average to .317. 

Blake Hoffman leads the Rangers with four home runs on the season followed by four players tied with three each for 22 total home runs hit in the 13 games this season. Koenig now leads the team with 13 RBI after having 11 this past weekend against Arkansas Monticello. Hoffman is second with 12 and Holdren with 11 as the three in double digits to date. 

Emilio Lovato leads the team with 24 innings pitched on the season with a 1-1 record on the year striking out 29 batters in those 24 innings of work. Connor Gibson is second on the team with 15.2 innings thrown with a 4.60 ERA the second lowest on the Rangers. Dylan Collins is 2-0 the team's win leader, throwing 11 innings on the season with all five appearances coming in relief. Edwin Colon has the most appearances on the season at seven with a 2.16 ERA the lowest on the Rangers picking up a 1-0 record with two saves this season. 

Scouting Rogers State:

Rogers State is led by Jesse Holguin hitting .438 with three doubles and 11 RBIs. Holguin leads the team in RBI, triples and tied for the home run lead. As a team Rogers State has four home runs. He is one of three hitters above .300 out of qualified hitters joined by Syler Nelson at .320 and Marco Barrera at .310 on the season. 

Jordan Ewig leads the team with 22.1 innings of work with a 3.22 ERA; he has a 1-2 record in four appearances with two of those being starts. Nathan Chase leads the team in strikeouts with 20 on the year posting a 1.86 ERA in three appearances. They have five pitchers that are tied for the team lead in wins. 

History: 

This will be the 26th overall meeting between the two teams as Rogers State leads the overall series history 15-10 dating back to 2007. The Rangers look to continue their recent success against Rogers having won two straight after winning the series 2-1 last year in Alva.
