Rangers Set to Open Weekend Series with Southeastern Saturday and Sunday

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State baseball is set for their three game series on the road against Southeastern Oklahoma State. The teams will play a single game on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM before a Sunday afternoon doubleheader closes out the series starting at Noon.
 

The Rangers are coming off a midweek loss to Newman on Tuesday. Northwestern does enter play on a six game conference win streak after sweeping both Arkansas Monticello and East Central at home. Northwestern will look for their first road victory after starting the year 0-5. 
 

The Red-and-Black offense is led by Hayden Priest  with a .412 batting average  with five home runs as one of three players with five home runs. He is joined by Yugo Hamakawa (.379), Brandon Holdren (.361), Brayden Koenig (.333), and Blake Hoffman (.324). Hoffman, Kelly, and Priest all lead the team with five home runs. The Rangers have hit 32 home runs in 17 games. Hoffman leads the team with 22-RBI followed by Kelly with 19 and Priest and Hamakawa tied at 17. Hamakawa leads the team with a .507 OBP% out of qualified hitters. Northwestern has hit 68 extra base hits this season. 
 

Northwestern's pitching staff is led in wins by Dylan Collins with three on the season in six appearances throwing 16.2 innings of work with 12 strikeouts on the season. Emilio Lovato has thrown the most innings with 28.1 with a win on the season. He has struck out 34 hitters in those 28 innings. Edwin Colon has thrown in nine games with a 1.64 ERA in 11 innings of work with eight strikeouts. He has earned two wins and two saves on the season. Four other pitchers are tied with one win on the season. Ethan Swanson is second on the team in strikeouts with 18. Connor Gibson is second in innings with 17.2.
 

Scouting Southeastern Oklahoma State:

The Savage Storm (16-4 overall, and 7-2 conference) enter the weekend on a five game win streak following a sweep over Southern Nazarene followed by a win over Rogers State. 
 

Southeastern's offense is led by five hitters over the .300 mark with Blake McQuain leading the team with a .480 batting average and an OBP of .557%. The Storm have hit 29 home runs in their 20 games played. They are led by Reid Rice with eight home runs and 25-RBIs, and Richard Ware with six home runs with 22-RBIs on the year. 
 

They are led in innings by Jacob Potter with 21.1 innings of work through five games thrown all being starts. Cole Canuteson leads the team with 23 strikeouts on the season in 19 innings of work with a 2-1 record in five appearances with three starts on the season. Connor Priest leads the team in wins with a 3-0 record tied with Logan Teske with three wins on the season in a combined 30.2 innings of work. 
 

History:

This will be meeting number 26-28 between the two programs dating back to the 2013 season as the Savage Storm lead the series 18-7. Southeastern has won five of the last six meetings between the two teams including the last series last season in Alva two games to three.
