Baseball Set for Final Home Series of the Season

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Ranger baseball team enters their final home weekend conference series of the series opening a three game series against the Wonder Boys of Arkansas Tech. The series opens with a Friday game at 6:00 PM before a Saturday afternoon doubleheader begins at 1:00 PM. Saturday will be senior day for the Rangers with activities starting at 12:30 PM. 
 

Northwestern (18-25 overall and 11-16 GAC)  enters the weekend on a two game losing streak after losing two non-conference games. The Rangers closed their previous three game series last week against Harding with a win 10-1. 
 

Yugo Hamakawa leads the Rangers with a .367 batting average through 41 games, hitting six home runs with 36 RBI this season. He is one of six hitters above .300 including Blake Hoffman .335, Brandon Holdren .331, Brayden Koenig .312, Shaughn Kelly .311 and Hayden Priest .308. Hoffman leads the team with 11 home runs on the year with 46-RBI to date. Kelly and Priest are tied with seven for second on the team. Kelly and Hamakawa are second in RBI with 36. Kelly leads the team with seven stolen bases this season in nine attempts. As a team the Rangers are hitting .293 with 54 home runs and 274 RBI.
 

Edwin Colon through 17 games has the team low in ERA with 4.39 this season in 26 innings of work. He has two saves and five wins on the season with 24 strikeouts in those innings. Ethan Swanson leads the team with 60 strikeouts on the year through 50 innings of work appearing in 11 games. Emilio Lovato is second with 55 strikeouts in 11 starts made picking up three wins in 57 innings of work. Dylan Collins is second on the team with four wins on the year in five starts made 12 total appearances throwing 46 innings. 


 

Scouting Arkansas Tech:

Arkansas Tech (23-16 overall and 14-12 GAC) enter the weekend series on a one game win streak after splitting the midweek doubleheader against #13 Delta State. Overall the Wonder Boys enter the series 4-12 away from Russellville on the road.
 

The Wonder Boys are led by Yadier Medina with a .388 batting average as one of three players above the .300 mark. He is joined by Sam Stephenson with a .344 average and Evan Hafley with a .343 average. Shelby Quiggins leads the team with nine home runs on the season tied with Josh Detweiler. Medina leads the team with 30-RBI's this season followed by Evan Hafley with 28 on the year. 
 

On the mound Patrick Miner leads the team with 11 starts on the season with a 3.57 ERA throwing 70 innings while striking out 74 batters. Will Horton, and Shane Scott each have 10 starts on the season both throwing about 49 innings on the year. Ty Van Meter leads the team with five saves on the year with 15 innings of work picking up one win in 11 appearances on the year. 
 

History:

Overall Arkansas Tech leads the series history 17-4 overall in the 21 games played entering game numbers 22-24. Northwestern took the three game series last season in Russellville winning two games of three before the Wonder Boys took the final game of the series. Overall the Rangers are 2-3 in the last five games.
