Tahlequah, Oklahoma - Northwestern Oklahoma State Baseball traveled to Northeastern State for a non-conference game against the Riverhawks. The home team jumped out quickly for five runs in the first before going on to close out a 13-3 victory over the Rangers.
The loss drops the Rangers to 15-19 on the season following the loss to Northeastern as the Riverhawks improve to 22-12 on the year.
Chase Orrock led the offense with two hits and two runs scored in the game with Brandon Holdren having the other RBI on a solo home run. Blake Hoffman had the last hit and run scored for the Rangers.
The Rangers went down in order in their half of the first inning before the Riverhawks jumped out with a five spot in the first inning. Freeman reached safely to start the inning before a 2-run home run by Reller opened the scoring as he was followed by a solo home run by White for a 3-0 lead. Northeastern kept the inning alive with a Kingensmith single to right field for the 5-0 lead.
After a scoreless top of the inning the Rangers let up two run in the bottom of the second after a leadoff single came around to score on a Brothers home run to left field for a 7-0 lead. After a walk and an error the Riverhawks had second and third before a wild pitch brought home the 8th run of the game. Reller later hit a three run home run to push the Riverhawk lead to 11-0 through three innings of play.
Northwestern got on the board in the fourth inning with three runs as Holdren started the scoring and inning with a solo home run. Hoffman then walked before a Chase Orrock 2-run home run brought the score to 11-3.
Riverhawks answered back in their half of the inning, with a single followed by a Freeman double to push the lead back to nine runs for Northeastern. Following a scoreless fifth inning a leadoff double followed by an RBI single pushed the Riverhawk lead back to 10 runs at 13-3.
Hoffman hit a double in the sixth but was left on base as the two teams traded zeros in the sixth inning as Northeastern completed the 13-3 victory over the Rangers.
The Rangers will travel to Shawnee, for a three game series against Oklahoma Baptist starting Friday for a single game followed by a doubleheader being played on Saturday to close the series.
