Rangers Travel to Tahlequah for Mid-Week Game Against the Riverhawks

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Baseball travels to Northeastern State for their second straight non-conference game this week after winning over Emporia State Monday afternoon. This will be the first of two meeting between the Riverhawks and the Rangers. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM against the Riverhawks. 
 

Northwestern (15-18 overall and 9-12GAC) look for their third straight road victory on the season after winning the final game of the Henderson State series before winning over Oklahoma Panhandle State. Overall the Rangers are 2-10 on the season away from Alva.
 

On the mound the Rangers have been led by Edwin Colon making the most appearances on the season with 14 for the Rangers with the lowest ERA with a 3.32 in 21.2 innings of work including two saves and a 5-1 record. Dylan Collins is second with three wins on the year followed by Emilio Lovato, Cade Phelps each with two wins on the year. Ethan Swanson leads the team in strikeouts with 47 followed by Lovato with 45. 
 

At the plate Yugo Hamakawa continues to lead the team with a .438 batting average and a .543 OBP% after a 3-3 day with a walk on Monday. He is one of five hitters above .300 for the Rangers including Brandon Holdren (.367), Blake Hoffman (.341), Brayden Koenig (.315) Shaughn Kelly (.301). Hoffman leads the team with eight home runs and 36 RBIs after having two on Monday afternoon. Hamakawa is second on the team with 33 RBIs this season. Holdren leads the team with 15 doubles on the season with four home runs and 26 RBis.
 

Scouting the Riverhawks: 

Northeastern State (21-12 and 11-9 MIAA) enters Tuesday on a three game win streak after sweeping Missouri Western in Tahlequah this past weekend. Overall the Riverhawks are 12-4 at home at Rousey Field. 
 

The Riverhawks are led by Blake Freeman at the plate with a .431 batting average as one of seven hitters hitting above .300 on the season. CD White is hitting .344 followed by Braock Reller and Brayden Rodden at .323. Matt Kaiser leads the team with 14 home runs on the season followed by Reller at 13 on the season.Reller leads with 43 RBIs this season followed by Collin Kingensmith with 33 on the year. 
 

On the mound Seth Key leads the team with a 2.25 ERA through six starts made this season with a 5-1 record in 36 innings of work. Jonathan Smithey is 3-2 on the year with a 3.65 ERA. Smithey leads the team with 37 strikeouts on the season followed by Davin Pollard at 32. 
 

History: 

This will be the 29th overall meeting between the two teams with the series history tied 14-14 overall. The Rangers won the last meeting back in 2021 11-10 in Alva. Overall the Rangers are 3-2 in their last five games against the Riverhawks.
