ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State softball closed out their three game series with the Bison on Saturday afternoon. Oklahoma Baptist used a strong pitcher in game one picking up a shutout scoring in three different innings for the 5-0 victory. In game two they used a four run inning to go up 5-0 over the Rangers before completing the sweep.

The Bison improve to 25-18 and 13-11 in Great American Conference play while the Rangers fall to 13-23-1 overall and 7-16 in conference play.

GAME ONE:

Hannah Scoggin started game one of the Saturday doubleheader throwing 6.1 innings striking out six Bison hitters allowing two earned runs. Victoria Vasquez threw in relief, throwing the final two outs of the seventh including one strikeout.

Offensively the Rangers finished with two hits, one from Abby DeTar and Lindsey McElroy each.

Scoggin opened the game with a perfect first inning. DeTar led the Rangers half of the inning with a single but was left on base as the game remained 0-0. In the second inning Scoggin struck out two hitters retiring the side in order again against the Bison. The game remained 0-0 until the third inning when the Bison struck first.

Sandoval of the Bison reached on a Ranger error to start the inning off. The Bison pushed her to second with a sacrifice bunt before a Ford single scored the first run of the afternoon giving the Bison a 1-0 lead. Scoggin escaped further damage holding the lead at 1-0.

Rangers went down in order in their half, as Scoggin matched Younce, retiring the Bison in order in the fourth. In the fifth inning the Bison offense struck again. Sandoval reached base on a leadoff single in the fifth inning. After a sacrifice bunt Ford delivered her second RBI single of the afternoon to push the Bison lead to 2-0. With runners on the corner Reese followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 3-0.

The pitchers continued to deal in the sixth retiring both sides in order with a couple of strikeouts. Northwestern was unable to get anything started in the seventh as the Bison completed the shutout victory over the Rangers 5-0 to win the series.

GAME TWO:

Howell started the second game for the Rangers, throwing four innings striking out one allowing five runs before Allie Hufford and Kameron Ryer combined for the final three innings of the game in relief.

Abby DeTar led the team with two hits in the game. Mackenzie Adams had one hit and the teams only run and RBI coming off a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Oklahoma Baptist started game two with a walk and a single before an RBI single by Campos pushed across the game's first run of the game. Northwestern was unable to tie the game in the first after DeTar reached to lead the inning off.

The pitchers settled in as the teams traded zeros in the second inning as the Bison were able to get one hit but Scoggin escaped without any damage done.

Game three of the series remained 1-0 in favor of the Bison into the fourth inning following two walks and a single to load the bases. A single followed by a bases clearing double by Warden pushed the Bison lead to 5-0 over the Rangers.

In the fourth inning Mackenzie Adams put the Rangers on the board with a solo home run to left center field cutting the deficit to 5-1.

The Bison however answered right back in the fifth inning with a leadoff walk followed by a single before a wild pitch set up the sixth run of the game on a RBI groundout by Ford.

In the sixth inning the Bison struck for the final time of the day following a walk and a stolen base by Greene. Warden had a sacrifice bunt in the inning to push across the game's seventh run to give the Bison a 7-1 lead over the Rangers.
