Jeremy Jones Hired as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance & Student Services

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Director of Athletics Brad Franz has announced the hiring of Jeremy Jones as the new Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Services.

Jones has strong ties to Northwestern after serving as the assistant men's basketball coach from 2009-2016.  While at Northwestern Jones helped lead the men's basketball team to their first ever Great American Conference tournament and also a GAC Conference Championship.  In 2012 he added to his role being named the head men's and women's cross country coach.

"We are excited to have Jeremy take over this vital role in our athletic department.  As a current athletic director, he understands the rigors of the position and his experience at the NCAA Division II level here make him an excellent match.  Megan Patel has done an outstanding job in this role and he will have big shoes to fill.  Being a former college coach, he understands what coaches go through each day.  I am excited to have him join our team and am glad he, his wife Gretchen and their family have decided to come back to Northwestern" stated Director of Athletics Franz.

Jones comes to  Northwestern after working at Layton Christian Academy in Utah, serving as the athletic director, head girls' basketball coach, and teacher from 2019 through 2022. At Layton he finished with a 53-14 overall record reaching the state final four. He won back to back coach of the year awards in the 2019-2020 season and 2020-2021 seasons.

Prior to moving to Utah, Jones worked at Malad High School in Idaho as the athletic director and head girls' basketball coach.  He finished with a 53-28 overall record winning coach of the year in 2016-2017 season after having his team finish state runner-up in 2017 and the 2019 state consolation championship winner.

Jones was a two-sport athlete in college running cross-country and playing basketball at Seward County Community College and Western Oklahoma State College. Jones also has experience at the NCAA Division I level as he served as a men's basketball student assistant at Weber State University.

"I would like to thank Dr. Cunningham, Dr. Hannaford and Mr. Brad Franz for the opportunity to return and serve the Ranger family.  My family bleeds red and black and it's a true blessing coming back where we consider home.  To have the opportunity for my girls to grow up ladybugs and then Rangers will be truly amazing.  I anticipate working alongside the great coaches and student-athletes at Northwestern. Ride Rangers Ride" stated Jones.

Jones has two degrees at Northwestern Oklahoma State earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Sports Science and also a Master's degree in Leadership / Secondary Education.
