Box Score Alva, Oklahoma - The Rangers hosted their first non-conference game against Oklahoma Panhandle State University Friday evening. The Rangers were able to conceive their first goal against the Aggies early in the match scoring the first two goals. Northwestern scored twice more in the second half to take control before closing out a 4-1 victory to open the season.
Northwestern was led in shots by Abby Nunez, and Isabella Mcmillan with five on the evening. Nunez scored on two of her five shot attempts. Campbell finished the evening with two assists with Lily Anderson having one as well as three of the four Ranger goals were assisted on. Rangers led in shots 31-4 over the Aggies with 15 of those 31 being on target.
Abby Nunez started things fast for the Rangers scoring the first goal of the evening in the opening three minutes of the match to give the Rangers the early lead. The Ranger senior wasted no time getting on the board again with her second goal only five minutes later with an assist from Tiara Campbell. The Aggies scored their first, and only goal of the night, with only three minutes left in the first half to cut the Ranger lead in half. The Rangers finished the half with 11 shots total while holding the Aggies to two shots.
Going into the second half, Campbell helped the Rangers start the second half strong after drawing a penalty kick inside the box. She took advantage of scoring opportunity with a kick to the left side of the goal past the goalkeeper for a 3-1 Ranger lead fifteen minutes into the second half. With six minutes left in the match Victoria Ruvalcaba managed to make the Ranger's fourth and final goal of the night. The Rangers were setup with a corner as Lily Anderson passed the ball into Ruvalcaba who capitalized on the scoring opportunity.
Northwestern went on to close out the 4-1 victory Friday evening for the teams third consecutive win over Oklahoma Panhandle State. Rangers move to 1-0 on the season while the Aggies fall to 1-2 this season.
