Rangers Draw 2-2 on Campbell's 2nd Half Goal

Box Score Alva, Oklahoma- Northwestern Oklahoma State concluded their three game homestand Thursday evening against Wayne State College. The Rangers and Wildcats played to a 2-2 draw following a strong defensive showing from the Ranger defense in the 2nd half holding the Wildcats scoreless before Campbell goal tied the game.

The Rangers move to 2-0-1 on the season following the draw while the Wildcats are now 0-1-1 on the young 2022 season.

Northwestern goals were socred by Abby Nunez and and Tiara Campbell each with one goal. Campbell put three shots on goal while Haneborg and Nunez each had two.

After a strong defensive start to the half by both teams things changed fast about halfway through the half as three goals were scored 15 mintues. Nunez found the back of the net first with a goal of a throw in pass to give the Rangers the first goal of the game. The Wildcats though responded with a goal just seconds later to even the game nine seconds following the Nunez goal. Wayne State struck 12 minutes later to give the Wildcats their first lead of the night.

The visitors carried that lead into the break with a 2-1 halftime lead.

Campbell opened the second half quickly for the Rangers with a goal in the opening mintues of the second half with the equalizer sending the score to 2-2. The Rangers defense held the Wildcats to just three shots in the second half with only one of those being on goal. Northwestern had a few scoring chances with eight shots in the half including three on goal.

Northwestern will return to action on Monday September 5th for their first road game of the year as the Rangers travel to Hays for a game against Fort Hays State University at 7:00 PM
