Wichita Falls, Texas -The Rangers traveled to Wichita Falls, Texas to face Midwestern State for their fifth non-conference game of the season. The Rangers played their second away game of the season Thursday afternoon. The Mustangs shut out the Rangers, ending the match 4-0.
Falling to the Mustangs, the Rangers now have their second loss of the season moving to 2-2-1 while the Mustangs are now 1-2-0.
The Rangers and Mustangs battled back and forth throughout the first half. Nine-teen minutes into the first half, the Mustangs were able to find the back of the net leading 1-0 over the Rangers. Tiara Campbell had a chance to bring the Rangers back up to tie with almost nine minutes left in the first half, but the shot was pushed out of bounds by the Mustangs keeper.
With 8:05 left in the half, the Mustangs were able to score another goal to lead the Rangers 2-0. With a couple minutes left in the half, goalie, Rachel Brown, made a great save popping the ball up over the net to stop the Mustangs from conceding a third goal.
Going into the second half, fifty-two minutes into the match, Tiara Campbell had another chance on goal but was called offsides. Two minutes later the Mustangs struck for another goal off of a corner kick making it 3-0 over the Rangers. The Mustangs scored their fourth and final goal of the night with thirty minutes left in the match with a header off another corner.
The match finished with the Mustangs winning 4-0 over the Rangers. The Mustangs kept the Rangers from shooting in the second half and out shot the Rangers 17 to 3.
The Rangers will head to Las Vegas, New Mexico on Saturday to play New Mexico Highlands University for their fifth game of the season.
