Northwestern Host Oklahoma Baptist Saturday Afternoon

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's basketball returns home for their first home game since January 7th in a win against Arkansas Monticello. The Rangers will look to snap a two game losing streak, while splitting the season series against Oklahoma Baptist. 

Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM in Percefull Fieldhouse following the conclusion of the Lady Rangers game against the Bison. Northwestern comes into the Saturday afternoon matchup with a 6-7 overall record and a 2-7 conference mark. Oklahoma Baptist enters the game with a 10-5 overall record with a 6-3 GAC record. 

Northwestern trails the series history 10-5 overall since 2016 as the Rangers look to avoid the season sweep. Oklahoma Baptist has won the last eight meetings against the Rangers. 

The Red-and-Black are led by three players averaging double figures. Malik Parsons is the team high with 20.7 followed by Brian Free at 13.5 and Larry White with 10.0 points per game. Parsons and Free lead the team in assists with 40 from Parsons and Free with 37 on the year. 

Defensively for Northwestern Larry White has 19 steals and 19 blocks on the year both second on the team. Parsons leads the team with 20 steals with Shavaul Butters leading the team in blocks with 23 on the season. White leads the team in rebounding with 4.8 per game followed by Parsons with 4.6 on the season. 

Oklahoma Baptist: 

The Bison enter play Saturday winning four straight games following a win over Southwestern, Arkansas Tech, Harding and Ouachita Baptist. The most recent win was an 80-64 win over the Bulldogs Thursday night. Oklahoma Baptist is 10-5 overall with a 7-2 conference mark with a 4-3 record on the road. 

Oklahoma Baptist is led by Paul King averaging 15.9 points per game as one of four players averaging double figures joined by Trey Doomes, D.J. Freeman, Nigel Wilcox. Doomes has 12.7 points per game, Freeman at 11.9 and Wilcox at 10.9. King leads the team in assists with 55 on the season followed by Doomes with 46 assists. 

On the defensive side of the ball King leads the team with 26 steals followed by Doomes at 25 and Brown 21 steals. D.J. Freeman leads the team with 14 blocks along with having 17 steals. Freeman leads the team with 6.7 rebounds followed by Trey Doomes at 5.5 rebounds per game.
