Northwestern Hosts Arkansas Tech in Hall of Fame Game

ALVA, OKLAHOMA- Northwestern will look to build off of Thursday evening's double digit win over Harding. This will be the second straight home game for the Rangers. Saturday will be the 2023 Hall of Fame Game as four inductees will be inducted into the Northwestern Hall of Fame at halftime. 

The Red-and-Black enter Saturday with a 8-8 overall record and a 4-8 Great American Conference record. Arkansas Tech enters with an 11-7 record this season with a 9-3 GAC mark. The Rangers look to protect home court with a 5-3 record in the Pit. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM following the conclusion of the Lady Rangers game. 

Northwestern comes in with a 6-10 record against the Wonder Boys. However the Rangers have changed the narrative in the series history recently winning four straight over Arkansas Tech, including two straight in Alva. Overall the Rangers are 3-5 in Alva against Tech.

The last time out for Northwestern the Rangers used a 19-3 second half surge to take a 16 point lead and close out a 80-64 victory. Larry White led the team with 18 points in the win as one of four double figure scorers joined by Malik Parsons, Brian Free, and Kennedy Milton. Milton led the team with three steals on defense. 

This season, overall Northwestern has been led by Malik Parsons averaging 21.8 points per game followed by two others in double figures. He is joined by Brian Free with 13.6 a game and Larry White with 10.1. Free and Parsons lead the team in assists just separated by three. Parsons has a team high 52 followed by Free with 49 this season. 

Defensively for Northwestern the team is led by Brian Free with 26 steals on the year with Parson at 25 this season. Shavaul Butters leads the team with 25 blocks. Larry White has been the leader on that side of the court with a balanced defense of 21 blocks and 22 steals this season. Northwestern is led in rebounding by Butters with 7 per game. 

ARKANSAS TECH: 

The Wonder Boys enter Saturday coming off a loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State in overtime 79-71. The team was led in scoring by Tommy Kamarad with 19 points as one of four players in double figures. 

Overall this season the team is led by Taelon Peter with 13.6 points per game as one of two double figure scorers. He is joined by Andre Leavell with 10.4 points a game. Andre Leavell leads the team with 59 assists on the season. 

Arkansas Tech's defense is led by Peter with 31 steals and seven blocks on the year followed by Leavell and Roberts with 21 steals. The leader in blocks is Harris with 19. Rebounding Harris leads the team with 5.7 but Peter is not far behind at 5.1 on the year.
