WEATHERFORD, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Soccer matched up against rival Southwestern Oklahoma State Wednesday afternoon. After the Rangers scored the first goal of the game by Lily Anderson, Southwestern answered with four unanswered goals to win the game.
Northwestern falls to 1-6-5 on the season and an 0-3-3 conference record.
The Rangers got on the board early in the first half after a foul by Micaella Swain. Anderson had a free kick from midfield being able to find the back of the net from a long distance strike. Northwestern led 1-0. Rachel Brown kept the Rangers in front at the time with a save. The Bulldogs would get the equalizer at the 31st minute of the half on a goal by Philippine de Sancy off a pass from Micaella Swain.
Southwestern struck once more in the first half in the final seconds of the first at the 44:37 mark with 23 second left de Sancy capitalized with her second scoring chance putting the Bulldogs in front 2-1 at halftime.
The second half opened with a Ranger shot off target before the Bulldogs extended their lead with a goal by Hannah Guiterrez assisted by Elvira and Sola Tsuruta for a 3-1 lead. Southwestern was able to add one more by Ruth Vasquez to put the Bulldogs up 4-1.
Northwestern finished the night with 10 shots, four being on goal to a Southwestern 10 shots on goal. Rachel Brown finished with six saves in the afternoon.
Northwestern will return to action on Saturday morning with kickoff set for 11:00 AM against Oklahoma Baptist. Ranger Soccer will have their senior day before the game at 10:30 AM.
