ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Basketball is set to open their season in the MIAA/ GAC challenge with two games this weekend starting November 10th. The Rangers season tips off against Northeastern State at 7:30 PM, before playing Central Oklahoma Saturday afternoon with a 3:00 PM tip-off.
The weekend set will be the first two games of the 28 game slate this season, before the home opener on Wednesday November 15th against Oklahoma Panhandle State.
The Rangers will be led by head coach Robbie Harman entering his second season and is assisted by Cody Henson and Chris Sanford. Northwestern is coming off an 11-15 season as the Rangers look to get back into the conference tournament.
Northwestern will be returning four starters Brian Free, Shavul Butters, Larry White and Kennedy Milton. In total there are 11 returning players on the roster. Rangers bring back three of their top four scorers.
The Rangers will feature three division one transfers in Camron McDowell, Jabiri Smith and Justin Norris. In total the Rangers added eight players this offseason six transfers and two freshmen stemming from Division I transfers, and D2/NAIA adding to the Ranger depth.
This will be the eighth meeting between the Rangers and Northeastern State, the first since 2021 after last year's opener was canceled. Northwestern won the previous meeting in 2021 66-58 which had two current Rangers have playing time in the game. Overall in the series history the Rangers trail 3-4 dating back to 2012.
The weekend will conclude with #9 ranked Central Oklahoma for the 7th meeting between the two teams going back to 2015. Northwestern will look for their first win against UCO since 2019 after a 63-55 victory.
The Rangers will follow the weekend slate with three straight home games against Oklahoma Panhandle State (Nov. 15), OKlahoma City (Nov.18) and Midwestern State (Nov. 25) before opening Conference play November 30th against East Central.
