Northwestern Takes the Series Finale Over #13 Harding

SEARCY ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State snapped their seven game skid with a 5-3 comeback victory over Harding. After the Bisons scored three runs in the first inning Northwestern did not allow another run the rest of the way. The Rangers answered the three run inning with a four run inning of their own with two 2-RBI singles.

Hannah Howell threw a complete game allowing just three runs all coming the first inning before throwing six straight scoreless for the win.

Macy Spearman and Tatum Winters led the team with 2-RBIs each as Laney Anderson led the team with 2-hits in the win.

Harding jumped out early on the Rangers after throwing a scoreless first inning a Shano walk and a hit batter led to a two-rbi single by Blankenship for an early 2-0 lead. The Bisons got one back on an RBI fielder's choice for a 3-0 lead after one.

The Rangers wasted no time answering back. Laney Anderson started the second inning with a single. This led to a walk by Abby Johson before a single by Tatium Winters scored two runs as the Rangers trailed 3-2. Macy Spearman then followed with the game winning hit with a 2-RBI single for a 4-3 lead scoring Winters and Johnson.

Howell followed with throwing a scoreless bottom of the second inning as she worked around a one out single.

Rangers went down in order as Harding kept trying to tie the game in their half of the inning as they picked up another single by Harris that would be left on base as Howell picked up back to back fly outs to hold the 4-3 lead.

Each team went in order in the fourth inning and Rangers again in the fifth as Howell worked around a 2-out walk holding the 4-3 lead through five innings.

Northwestern picked up an insurance run in the sixth inning as Anderson started a rally again this time a one out single. Madeline Pack followed with a single before an Abby Johnson single to right field scored pinch runner Brooklyn LaChappa for a 5-3 lead.

Harding did not get a base runner in the fifth inning before they brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning looking to tie the game. This was with two outs as Howell got Jones to ground out the next at bat for the victory over Harding.

The Rangers will be back in action on Friday and Saturday next week March 31st and April 1st in Durant Oklahoma against Southeastern Oklahoma State.
