Northwestern Has 85 Recipients on D2ADA Academic Achievement List

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) announced their 2022-2023 recipients for the Academic Achievement Awards. Northwestern was well represented this year with 85 student-athletes earning the award a jump up from last year's number of 77.

The criteria to be eligible for this award is: "have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college-level work, have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year, Given the vast experiences institutions have had this year when it comes to participation, all athletes who meet bullet point items 1 and 2 are still eligible as long as they were still an active member of the roster during this academic year."

In total across all of Division II there were 19,646 student-athletes, totaling 196 different institutions from 24 conferences for record breaking numbers. The Great American Conference had ten programs representing the conference for academic achievement including 834 student-athletes.

The Rangers 85 student-athletes is fourth most from the GAC overall and the most out of the RUSO schools (Regional University System of Oklahoma).

Stated athletic Director Brad Franz, "This is a great testament to the continued great work by our student-athletes over the expanse of their career academically and to the work our coaches and faculty put in focusing on our academic goals and success. I am very pleased to see the continued work by our students each and every day.
