Rangers Draw New Mexico Highlands in Enid

ENID, OKLAHOMA - The Ranger Soccer team played to a draw on Thursday evening after being forced to play in Enid due to the weather in Alva. The Rangers trailed 2-1 in the second half before Katy Jo Werner tied the game at two on a rebound opportunity. The score remained 2-2 for the Rangers second consecutive tie.

The draw moves the Rangers to 1-2-2 on the season as the Cowgirls move to 0-2-1 on the season.

Northwestern had the first opportunity with a shot just high by Mcmillan. Carlie Massingale put the first shot on goal for the Rangers which was saved by the goalkeeper. The Rangers continued to control the opening half with three more shots on goal before Mcmillan struck. Northwestern struck first in the opening half taking advantage on a corner kick opportunity Isabella Mcmillan struck after it was sent in from Lily Anderson as Mcmillan finished the opportunity off a header into the back of the night. This gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead.

New Mexico Highlands answered back though four minutes later after a shot was blocked by the Rangers from far out Izzie Scott scored hitting the top of the post and bouncing in to tie the game at 1-1. The Cowgirls continued to put pressure on the Rangers capitalizing on another shot chance from Paige Gowen to score their second goal of the game taking a 2-1 lead over the Rangers.

The scored remained 2-1 heading into half time in favor of New Mexico Highlands.

Out of the break the Rangers were first to apply pressure with two shots one on goal one off as the Rangers trailed by one. It was in the 66th minute of the game when Katy Jo Werner scored on a rebound opportunity sending the second chance to the back of the net to even the score at 2-2.

Rangers had a couple more opportunities to take the lead with two shots on goal in the final 10 minutes but the Rangers finished the match out with a draw with New Mexico Highlands 2-2.

The Rangers will be back in action on Saturday in Colorado against Colorado State University Pueblo, before opening conference play Wednesday against Southwestern.
