JOPLIN MISSOURI - Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Cross Country looked to carry their Aggie Duels success into the Southern Stampede. Northwestern for the second consecutive meet to start the season went on to win the meet as a team.
The Rangers had six runners in the top 20 help set the tone and pace the rest of the meet.
Christian Franklin followed his meet victory with another top five finish placing fifth finishing with a time of 27:46.44. Franklin was one of four top 15 finishers as he was joined by Edgar Reyes placing 11th with a time of 28:24.23. Salat Ibrahim was 12th overall with a time of 28:28.42 followed by Riley Herndon in 13th with a time of 28:36.35.
"The men continued to move in the right direction. The game plan today for the guys was to pack up as a group and push each other. The men won the meet overall as a team. There were six guys finishing in the top 20" stated head coach Sterlin Broomfield.
Northwestern had two more place in the top 20 as Edward Robledo-Gonzalez was 18th with a time of 28:51.54 along with Aaron Medrano in 19th at 28:54.90.
Basheer Suied placed 28th in the meet with a time of 29:14.65. Alan Lares was 40th in the Southern Stampede with a time of 29:46.72. The final one in the top 50 was Hunter Bellis at 49th place with a time of 30:13.76.
Ben Morfin and Jeremy Smith were the next two to place as Morfin finished 54th overall with a time of 30:29.63 followed by Smith in 55th with a time of 30:30.20.
