Rangers Drop First Conference Matchup of the Season

ARKADELPHIA, ARKANSAS - The Rangers suffered a tough 1-0 loss to the Ouachita Baptist Tigers on Wednesday afternoon in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.  With the loss, the Rangers drop to 1-4-4 on the season. 
 
The Rangers came out of the gates strong and managed the first shot of the game, but would produce just three more on the evening.  Of the Rangers four total shots, both of their shots on goal came in the first half of play.  Carlie Massingale was responsible for half of the Rangers attempts during the game.
 
Rangers goalkeeper Rachel Brown played a solid game, keeping the Rangers alive with 5 saves on the afternoon.  Her performance was highlighted by a diving save in the first half to keep the game scoreless at the time.  Brown is 4th in the GAC in both goals allowed per game and saves on the season so far.
 
The lone goal during the game was scored by Ouachita Baptist's Sydni Perry.  Perry scored off a rebound in the 63rd minute.  Overall, the Tigers outshoot the Rangers 20-4 on the afternoon, producing 13 of their attempts in the 2nd half of action.  Seven of the Tigers chances were shots on goal.  Ouachita Baptist also outpaced the Rangers in corner kicks 9-1, keeping the Ranger defense working all game.
 
The Rangers take the pitch again on Saturday as they host Harding University in Alva.  Northwestern will look to grab their first conference win of the season. The girls will be back on the road following the Harding game to play at East Central University on October 7th.
