ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Basketball returns home for two straight games opening with Ouachita Baptist on Thursday evening with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 PM.
The Rangers (5-7 overall, 3-3 GAC) are coming off back to back wins to start the New Year with wins over Arkansas Monticello (65-61) and Southern Arkansas (84-71). The Tigers (4-7 overall, 2-4 GAC) come into Thursday evening after splitting their matchups last week with a loss to Oklahoma Baptist (87-72) and with a win over Southern Nazarene (73-66).Â
Northwestern is led in scoring by Brian Free with 15.1 points per game as one of three double figure scorers joined by Camron McDowell at 14.8 and Larry White with 10.0. Free and McDowell both had big weeks where Free posted 30 points in a win over Arkansas Monticello and McDowell had 28 in the win over Southern Arkansas. Free is shooting 43.7% from three this season.Â
On defense Larry White has led the team with 25 steals and 12 blocks this season followed by Camron McDowell with 14 steals and four blocks on the year. The leading rebounder for the Rangers is Larry White with 4.8 per game followed by Camron McDowell at 3.5.Â
Ouachita Baptist has four players averaging double figures led by Tylar Haynes at 14.9 points per game joined by Emorie Knox with 12.9, Terran Williams scoring 11.6 and Reggie Martin at 11.5 on the year.Â
Defensively the Tigers are led by Emorie Knox with 15 steals and six blocks along with Tylar Haynes with 14 steals and 11 blocks on the season.Â
The series history between the teams is led by Ouachita Baptist 12-8 overall, with the two teams splitting last year's season history. The Rangers have won three of the last five games including the last meeting between the two teams following a 75-70 victory.
