ADA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Women's Soccer was on the road Saturday against East Central Tigers. The The Tigers used an early second half goal to take a 1-0 lead before closing out the 1-0 victory over the Rangers.
Rachel Brown finished the match saving 10 of the 11 shots she faced allowing just the one goal.
The first half East Central had nine to the Rangers six shots with four of those nine on goal. Brown was able to stop all four shots she faced. The Tigers had the first shot of the afternoon to the low right of the goal before Brown pushed away the shot.
Tiara Campbell had the Rangers first opportunity with a shot on goal off a deflection but the shot was saved keeping the match scoreless in the early part. East Central gained control with possession having two shots on goal within two minutes as Kaylee Bruce was denied by Brown before Abbie Morris had one save to the low right.
The Ranger defense later in the half had a team block keeping the game scoreless at the 23 minute mark. Late in the first half at the 43 minute mark the Rangers had a chance to find the back of the net getting a shot on goal by Lily Anderson which was saved by Madison Mayhall before Lauren Gauthier had a shot go wide to the left.
The first 45 minutes of the match remained tied as the two teams went into halftime locked at 0-0.
Northwestern had the first shot of the second half from Jordan Fawcett that missed left, before East Central off a throw-in gained control. Abbie Morris pushed one into the back of the net after controlling the ball and kicking to the left side of the net for the 1-0 lead early in the second half over the Rangers.
After a Rachel Brown save, Reese Welch hit the top of the crossbar just missing the equalizing goal.
In the 70th minute of the match the Rangers had three different shots, two on goal one by Luana San Miguel, and Amaia Stephens before Isabella Mcmillan had one blocked by the East Central defense.
The game ended 1-0 after one final shot in the 88th minute missed right as East Central took the home match in Ada over the Rangers.
Northwestern will be home on Wednesday evening against Southwestern Oklahoma State with kick-off set for 6:00 PM against the Bulldogs.
