ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger Soccer faced rival Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs Wednesday evening. The Rangers scored in the 76 minute on a goal from Isabella Mcmillan to tie the game.
The Rangers tie Wednesday moved the Rangers to 2-6-4 (0-3-3 GAC) on the season as Southwestern Oklahoma State moves to 4-6-2 (2-3-1 GAC).
Overall Southwestern led in shots 19-10, with the Rangers leading on goal 11-10. Isabella Mcmillan led the team in shots with four all being on goal while also scoring the goal for the Rangers. Rachel Brown finished with eight saves in the evening.
Opening half Christi-Anne Mills looked to strike on the first opportunity of the game as she put a shot on goal but was saved by the goalkeeper Allie Vasquez on the bottom center. Rachel Brown saved one on a shot by Southwestern Oklahoma State.
Rangers had their first of seven corner kicks at the five minute mark of the opening half, as the Rangers put two shots on goal from this opportunity from Tiara Campbell, and Isabella Mcmillan. Both were saved by Allie Vasquez.
Southwestern added four more shots on goal in the half all saved by Rachel Brown as the game remained 0-0 into the halftime break.
In the second half Southwestern Oklahoma State struck first on a goal by Ruth Vasquez to take an early 1-0 lead in the second half three minutes in. Northwestern looked to answer quickly as Mcmillan had a shot three minutes later saved by Allie Vasquez.
Off a corner kick Amaia Stephens put a shot on goal but Southwestern goalkeeper Allie Vasquez saved the shot. In the 76th minute of the match Isabella Mcmillan fired off the equalizer for the Rangers to even the score at 1-1 at the 76:15 minute mark.
Southwestern looked for the late lead with two more shots but both were off target as the match remained 1-1 ending in the tie with Southwestern Oklahoma State.
Northwestern will travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma Baptist with kick-off set for 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon.
