Rangers Drop Wednesday Match to the Tigers

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger Soccer was home Wednesday evening against the East Central Tigers. The Tigers used an early goal Wednesday to take a 1-0 lead in which the game remained through the end as the Tigers completed the shutout victory.

The loss drops the Rangers to 2-7-5 overall with an 0-4-4 conference record on the season. East Central improves to 4-9-1 on the season with a 3-4-1 conference mark.

Overall the Rangers slightly outshot the Tigers 14-13 with 9-8 on goal. Tiara Campbell, Jordan Fawcett, Jazlyn Norwood, and Isabella Mcmillan all had shots on goal. Rachel Brown finished the game with seven saves.  

East Central jumped out early after an early shot by the Rangers the Tigers countered with a corner kick in the opening two minutes before a corner kick with 3:12 into the game led to an East Central goal by Abbie Morris after heading one in from Paige Jones. 

At the ten minute mark Campbell had the first shot on goal for the Rangers that was saved by Maddison Mayhall. After gaining possession off a pass from Campbell the Rangers had a scoring opportunity but the shot hit off the right post as the game remained 1-0. 

The Rangers put three more shots on goal in the first half but all were saved by Mayhall as the Rangers trailed heading into the halftime break 1-0. 

East Central had an opportunity to extend their lead early in the second half off a foul as Emily Green of the Tigers put a shot on goal leading to a corner kick. Rachel Brown saved another shot in that time frame keeping the Rangers down 1-0. 

Jordan Fawcett put a shot on goal in the 83rd minute off a Ranger corner kick but Mayhall was able to save the shot along with two others before the final seconds of the game.

East Central held on for the 1-0 win over the Rangers Wednesday evening. 

Northwestern will return to action on Thursday evening October 31st against the Harding Bisons with kick-off set for 6:00 PM in Alva.
