Rangers Fall in Home Match Against Harding

ALVA, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Soccer played a Thursday evening conference match against Harding Bisons. Harding struck early in the second half grabbing the 1-0 lead before closing out a 3-0 win over the Rangers.

Harding improves to 6-7-1 on the season with a 5-3-1 conference mark while Northwestern falls to 2-8-5 with a 0-5-4 record in the GAC.

Rangers were led in shots by Lily Anderson with three while Isabella Mcmillan, Anderson each had two shots on goal. Rachel Brown finished the match with seven saves. Rangers out shot the Bisons on frame 7-3.

Tira Campbell pushed the first shot of the match seconds in but fell off target. Harding earned a corner kick with 1:19 into the half but the Rangers defense kept the match scoreless. The Rangers had two opportunities halfway through the opening half as Lily Anderson put a shot on goal saved by Maysa Willis. Christi-Anne Mills followed with a shot on goal a minute later. 

Harding followed with a couple of their own shots on goal as Templeton and Tindel put shots on frame but Ranger goalkeeper Rachel Brown kept the match scoreless. 

Minutes before halftime Ranger had another opportunity with a shot on goal by Anderson followed by a corner kick leading to a shot by Mcmillan but Harding defense stood strong. 

The match remained 0-0 heading into the halftime break. 

The visitors then used an early second half goal from Whitney Thomas assisted by Kloey Fullerton to take  a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute of the game. The game stayed that way until the 61st minute where Thomas struck again this time off a rebound from the top post pushing one through to the back of the goal for a 2-0 lead. 

Looking to cut the deficit in half Tanah Huffines shot one on goal but was saved by Willis. It was the 81st minute when Skylar Henley pushed one to the back of the goal for a 3-0 Harding lead.

Harding closed out the 3-0 win over the Rangers. 

Northwestern will have the final home game of the year on Saturday against Ouachita Baptist with an 11 AM kickoff for the 2024 senior day.
