Harding's Two Early Goals Cost Rangers in Road Match

SEARCY, ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger Soccer closed their road trip with a match against Harding University. Harding used two goals in the opening half to take a 2-0 lead over the Rangers before closing out the 3-1 win over Northwestern. 

Rangers are now 2-5-3 on the season with an 0-2-2 conference record. Harding improves to 2-5-1 on the year with a 1-1-1 conference mark. 

The Rangers had four shots on goal from Isabella Mcmillan, Tiara Campbell, Lily Anderson, and Lauren Gautheir all with one each. Rachel Brown finished the match with seven saves. 

Harding had the advantage early in the match Saturday with a shot leading to an early corner kick in which the Bisons capitalized on with a goal from Georgia Templeton assisted by Lauren Service. This gave Harding a 1-0 lead. The Bisons continued the attack then had a shot saved by Rachel Brown

Lauren Gauthier put the first shot on goal for the Rangers at the 8:53 mark of the match which was saved by Maysa Willis, the goalkeeper for Harding. At the 11:09 mark of the first half Lauren Service struck for her first goal of the match adding to her assist earlier in the afternoon. 

The Bisons led 2-0 over the Rangers. Rangers had one more shot in the first half from Isabella Mcmillan that went wide left as the Rangers were out shot in the first half 10-2. 

Harding led 2-0 heading into the halftime break. 

Out of the break Harding looking to strike early in the half had a shot off the post before having two more shots off target.

Tiara Campbell, looking to get the Rangers back in the match, scored on a goal assisted by Jazlyn Norwood to cut the deficit in half as the Rangers trailed 2-1. 

Maysa Willis saved a shot from Isabella Mcmillan looking to even the score. Harding responded with a corner kick and two shots saved by Rachel Brown.

It was at the 82 minute mark when Carmen Gunn pushed one into the back of the net for the 3-1 lead over the Rangers. 

The final score was 3-1 in favor of Harding Saturday afternoon, Harding led in shots 19-6 with 10-4 on goal. 

Northwestern will return to play on Saturday, October 12th against East Central in Ada, Oklahoma.
