JOPLIN, MISSOURI - Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Cross Country closed out their season at the NCAA DII Central Region Championship meet. The Rangers placed 19th overall in the central region, the highest team finish in the Men's Program's history.
Overall East Central won the central region followed by Northwest Missouri and Pittsburg State to round the top three.
Northwestern had seven runners in the meet with six of the seven setting new personal records and the seventh having a season best.
" The guys took care of business today. James Fincher led the way finishing with a time that set the new school record at 32:12.94. The guys 19th overall finish which is the new school best finish in the history of the cross country program" stated head coach Sterlin Broomfield.
James Fincher paced the Rangers in the meet, being the first runner to finish as he ran a 32:12.94 in the 10K setting his new personal record for that distance. He placed 67th overall in the meet.
The Rangers had two other runners in the top 100 as Christian Franklin finished 81st overall in the meet setting his personal best in the meet as well with a time of 32:27.74.
Riley Herndon was the third Ranger to finish with a personal best in the 10K as he ran a 32:49.81 in the meet placing 96th overall.
Collins Yego and Edward Robledo- Gonzalez were the next two Rangers. Yego finished with a 33:31.14 his new personal record for the meet as he finished 129th in the central region. Robledo-Gonzalez ran a 33:54.45, also his new personal record.
Salat Ibrahim ran a 35:16.75 in the meet finishing 188th in the meet with a new season best for the meet. Edgar Reyes placed 192nd in the meet after running a 35:30.04 which is his new personal record.
