Rangers Draw Southern Nazarene in Final Road Match of Season

BETHANY, OKLAHOMA - Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger Soccer faced Southern Nazarene University Savage Storm Saturday evening. The Rangers scored in the 44th  minute on a goal from Elie Dang to tie the game.  

The Rangers tie Saturday moved the Rangers to 2-8-7 (0-5-6 GAC) on the season as Southern Nazarene University moves to 6-4-7 (2-4-6 GAC). 

Overall Southern Nazarene led in shots 15-14, with the Rangers leading on goal 8-5. Isabella Mcmillan led the team in shots with four total and three of those being on goal. Rachel Brown finished with four saves on the evening. 

Opening half Lily Anderson looked to strike on the first opportunity of the game as she put a shot but missed high right 

Southern Nazarenes Natalie Montanez struck first in the match at the nine minute mark on a penalty kick after a foul in the goal box.  

The Rangers had their first of four corner kicks at the eleven minute mark of the opening half, as the Rangers looked to capitalize on one of their opportunities in the first half.   

Northwestern Oklahoma State came back late in the first half to tie the match after a goal from Elie Dang in the 44th minute to put the Rangers back in the game.  

Southern Nazarene added eight more shots in the half with one of which being on goal and saved by Rachel Brown as the game remained 1-1 into the halftime break. 

In the second half Southern Nazarene struck first with a shot that was blocked and the immediately following Isabella Mcmillan struck back with a shot that missed high left.  

Northwestern looked for to take the late lead in the second half with seven shots putting four of them on goal, all of which were saved by Southern Nazarenes Gianna Bonnett.  

 

Northwestern will play their final regular season game against Ouachita Baptist with kick-off set for 3:00 PM Monday afternoon.
