SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS- Northwestern Oklahoma State Men's Golf completed their first tournament of the spring season part of the Rattler Invitational. The Rangers placed 10th overall in the tournament with a final total of 918 (313-297-308).
Midwestern State won the tournament with a final total of 863 (283-291-289) followed by Dallas Baptist and UT Tyler to round out the top three teams. Overall Jay Shero from UT Tyler won the invitational followed by Sungyeop Cho, and Keaton Dickens.
The Rangers were led by Matti Zerwin placing 35th overall in the invitational as he shot his best round in the final one of the tournament. After back rounds of 77, Zerwin had a 72 in the third round. Northwestern's Zerwin tied for the Ranger lead of 32 total pars between the three rounds. He added seven birdies.
Second for the Rangers was Noah Carpenter with a final round score of 231 after finishing with a low of 74 in round two. Carpenter tied for 50th overall in the tournament after shooting 27 pars, and tied for the team high of nine birdies in the Rattler Invitational.Â
Cade Seymour placed third for the Rangers in the Invitational and 54th overall after shooting a 232 in the tournament with a round best of 73 in round two. Seymour had 27 pars, and eight birdies in the tournament.Â
The next two Rangers tied for 64th overall in San Antonio after finishing with a total of 236. Caden Holmes finished with a best round of 74 in day two with a total score of 236. Davan Smith had his best round in the second round with a 76.Â
Holmes finished with 28 pars on the afternoon and tied for the team high with nine birdies through the tournament. Smith had 32 pars along with four birdies in the invitational.Â
Northwestern Men's Golf next invitational tournament will be on March 4th and Marth 5th for a two day tournament in Fort Smith, Arkansas part of the Hardscrabble Country Club hosted by the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.Â
