Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ARKADELPHIA, ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Baseball closed out day one of the series against Henderson State. The Rangers split the doubleheader losing 5-2 in game one before jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second game and winning 10-5.

The Rangers opening series split moves the record to 11-3 overall with a 3-2 record inside the conference.

GAME ONE:

The opening game started in a strong pitching duel as the Rangers were held scoreless through five innings while the Red-and-Black allowed two runs.

Henderson State struck first on a solo home run by Aregnbright for the early 1-0 lead through the second inning as the Rangers remained hitless. Garrett DeHaas, the Rangers starting pitcher, came back with a scoreless third inning after picking up a strikeout to Louis Holt.

After a scoreless top of the fourth inning Argenbright did damage again with a double to right center field, scoring Allen and giving the Reddies a 2-0 lead. Their lead extended in the fifth inning as well following a run scored for a 3-0 game.

Northwestern's offense struck in the sixth inning after back to back base runners set the Rangers up in the inning. However, a double play ball brought two outs before a Trevor Saire 2-run home run to center field to cut the deficit to one run at 3-2.

However after three straight hits that included a single double and a single brought around the two runs to answer back for a 5-2 Henderson State lead.

The Rangers had a couple of opportunities to chip into the deficit and comeback as in the seventh inning a Zach Vetal walk, and a Dylan Bradford single set up first and third but were not able to score.

Northwestern went in order in the 8th and 9th innings as the Reddies were able to hold onto the 5-2 lead for the three run victory over the Rangers in game one.

GAME TWO:

In the second game of the doubleheader the Rangers' offense wasted no time striking after two runners reached safely on a Carson Wright walk, and Barcello single set up a Saire RBI single before the big blast from Colby Grace on a 3-run home run for an early 4-0 lead.

After a one out single in the bottom half of the inning a double play started by Jacob Wiltshire ended the first inning still 4-0.

In the second inning the Northwestern offense continued to add runs on a single and hit batter to start set up first and second leading to a Carson Wright single scoring two runs in Jacob Wiltshire and Trevor Stiles, for a 6-0 lead.

Rangers scored a run for the third straight inning to start the game on a Trevor Saire home run to left field to push the Ranger lead to 7-0.

Henderson State's offense came alive in the bottom of the third inning ending their scoreless streak through the opening innings after three straight singles led to a bases loaded walk, sacrifice fly, and an Argenbright double to left field. The Reddies scored four runs in the frame cutting the Ranger lead down to 7-4.

Northwestern added more runs to their lead in the seventh inning as the lead was cut to 7-5 after a wild pitch in the fifth inning allowed a Reddies runner to score.

The Rangers set up first and second in the inning before an RBI Single by Colby Grace made it an 8-5 game which led to a Porter Pittman 2-RBI double to right center to give the Rangers a 10-5 lead over Henderson State.

Jacob Shaw shut the door down in the seventh inning sealing the Rangers 10-5 victory over Henderson State splitting the Friday doubleheader.

Northwestern will close out the series on Saturday afternoon with a single game scheduled for first pitch at Noon in Arkadelphia.
