Northwestern Drops Road Series to the Reddies

ARKADELPHIA, ARKANSAS - Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger Baseball closed out their trip to Arkansas with Saturday's game. The Reddies topped the Rangers 4-3 after a late eighth inning run for the one run victory.

The loss drops the Rangers to 11-4 on the season with a 3-3 Great American Conference record.

Northwestern jumped out on Henderson State early with a run in the top of the first inning as Carson Wright hit a solo home run giving the Rangers the early lead. However Henderson State like the Rangers struck in the opening inning as the Rangers allowed two runs after a single and a double led to a two run 2-RBI single

In the second inning both teams went down in order as the game remained 2-1  in favor of Henderson State into the third inning. The bottom of the third inning the Reddies extended their lead on an RBI double to right center for the 3-1 lead through three innings.

The Rangers had a runner on in the fourth and sixth innings but ultimately the Henderson State pitching kept the Redides in the lead 3-1. For the Rangers Jacob Fuller went six innings throwing three straight scoreless innings as well to hold the Reddies off the board again.

In the seventh inning the Rangers offense struck back as Trevor Saire led off the inning with a walk before Colby Grace hit a two run home run to center field to even the score at 3-3 through seven innings of play, after Shafer Glasscock came in with a scoreless bottom half of the inning.

The eighth inning the Rangers were looking to extend the lead pushing a runner into scoring position in Jacob Wiltshire but the Reddies pitching staff was able to hold the Rangers off the board keeping it tied into the bottom of the 8th.

The Reddies offense struck for a blast in the home half of the inning on a one out solo home run hit by Jordan Allen to left center field for a 4-3 Reddies lead.

Northwestern went down in order in the top half of the ninth inning as the Reddies closed out the series victory over the Rangers with a 4-3 win and the series victory.

The Rangers will be back in action next week with a mid-week game on Tuesday afternoon against Rogers State, in Claremore, Oklahoma before returning to conference play against Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee.
